Exciting new home for the Small Motorhome Camping Forum! We have been giving much thought over the last few months about moving the Forum to a better home, the recent demise of Yahoo/Geocities confirmed our worries - you should always own your own site or it could be lost if the host decides to give it all up! We were worried that if proboards did the same we would lose everything so decided the time was right to move the Forum to our own hosting. So you can now find the Forum on a wonderful new vBulletin arrangement here: www.smallmotorhome.co.uk/forumYou will need to register on the new Forum, it is quick and easy, best to do it now and bag your username before it goes It will take a little time to build up the posts etc. sadly proboards will not allow access to the database (even for money) so we cannot import the threads and posts. These will be kept though, as an archive accessible from the new forum. There are lots of exciting new features in the new forum so have a look and a play around. Any questions? Please do ask

Hi Adam. The Wishbone is a big lump of metal but I find when you try replacing just the bushes that are attched to the anti roll bar they never seem to be as good a fit as the originals. I therefore don't now ever just change the bush. For a few extra quid you get a new complete wishbone, the labour to change a complete unit is often no different to messing about changing the bush. Thanks Ant, I'll amble on over sometime this week and see what they say.
Yes you're right, the control arm bushes are what I got replaced. The wishbone is just a solid lump of metal, why would that need replacing? Surely it's just the joint?
In grateful ignorance, -Adam

We had a Freedom Microlite in the 1990s. We used it every school holiday for the 4 of us until the boys were in secondary school. We towed it thousands of moles in the UK and France without any trouble. The caravan shell is the same principle as the Romahome. We only got rid because it was too small, and they are not expensive if you look how long they last compared with most british caravans

I have one of these as a back up, but I can't imagine ppl not turning the pan support the right way up before using them, that is so dumb! It's obvious for anyone with half a brain, a sheep could probably do it without help! They are brilliant little things, as as you say Derek, burn very cleanly... surprising how long for on the little cannisters as well. You can buy an attachment which fits over the pan support and which turns them into a portable heater.

We heated a ready made and cooked chicken pie in our double skillet and managed to turn it over to cook on both sides. It did not break and we had a lovely hot pie, threw in a couple of sliced courgettes and mushrooms around the pie and they cooked fine.

Started me off looking at all the Romahome videos on Youtube, great fun and specially nice to see JayJay's one near top of list!
Amazing what people can do with a tiny little van.

If you do not have a fitted cooker you are just as likely using one of these. I use one and find it to be very good, it burns more cleanly than any other camping cooker I have had, in fact it is better than the very expensive Smev that was fitted in the Romahome. A farmer on TV said that sheep are always thinking of new ways to die, I sometimes think this also applies to some people. There is a safety alert on these stoves, it seems that people use them with the pan support upside down. This causes the cylinder to overheat and explode. www.boatsafetyscheme.com/site/Home_1.asp

I think Remoska lids dont like being turned upside down! The instructions advise doing this when the lid is taken off because of the high temperature on the inside but I have found this will trip the electrics even at home. A friend of mine uses her shallow Remoska pan as a lid rest to avoid damage to surfaces or non-stick lid but this seems a pretty expensive trivet!
Has anyone taken this prblem up with the manufacturers do you think. Maybe I will mention it to Lakeland on my next visit. Of course these great little cookers are I imagine a pretty simple design so may have inherent weaknesses - but I still love it!

Travelling north on M6 towards junction with M55 at about 1pm today saw first a C15 Hytop going south followed a few minutes later by an Outlook Hilo, then as we came off to go north on the A6 there was another Hilo at the junction heading for the M6

Hi Roger
Thats interesting, we have recently had our home electrics upgraded so we now have RCD,s. No problems with the Remoska up to now. I am a bit confused how steam can condense in a hot lid and trip the RCD, maybe it is getting into the plastic handle and causing problems where the on/off switch is. I still think yours has a fault, a leak where there shouldn't be one perhaps. We exchanged ours when it was nearly two years old without difficulty, we did have our receipt however. The Lakeland guarantee is, and I quote, "Probably the simplest guarantee in the world! If you're not satisfied at any time, you receive your money back! This is our promise." No time limit there.

It is with great sadness that I have to offer my Roamhome Dimension for sale. I am based in Chichester West Sussex just across the water from the Romahome factory on trhe Isle of Wight. The vehicle is in superb condition, first reg'd in 2006, and has only covered 11k miles. The length is only 15'7" so it will fit into most car parking spaces. Bit like the 'tardis' inside as it has 4 passenger seats and is 2 berth. Has a toilet/shower, blown air heating, hot water heater....in fact everything you could wish for. I am asking £23,950 which is good value as a new one (known as the R30) is over £35K. If you are interested please give me a call on 01243 771792. Please no canvassers.

Thanks everyone, some great info and food for thought there. Will take a look at the various links, I must admit that they will only be used for very short trips and possible quite infrequently so don't want to spend too much but agree with the thoughts on 'you get what you pay for'. Joan, thanks for letting us know about your bike, we will bear it in mind as we do our research

I hadn't seen it but have just taken a peek. As you say, it's lots of bits of kit which takes up nearly all the storage space. These wouldn't work for me - I need a bit of room to move around in the back of the vehicle and as I could be away in it for 5-10 days would need more facilities eg a sink, leisure battery, my wonderful 12V microwave... etc and not just a bed which fills the entire rear of the vehicle. I've drawn up plans for an adaptation of a Fiat Doblo which could be a very comfy and practical car-camper (bed, s/steel sink, 2 leisure batts, cooker, loo, and even adequate storage but my stumbling block is always the frustrating insurance issue... I need 'business' cover to include carriage of own goods - ie taking my shop orders to the post office 6 miles away twice per week which no camper insurer I've found will cover me for (

Hi Derek .... Just back from a tour abroad, and as usual relied heavily on the Remoska. Towards the end, however, my EHU died. Luckily food was cooked by then! I checked later and found the van RCD had tripped. Tried Remoska, and again the RCD tripped. Everything else ok.
Back home, where I have fuses, I switched on the Remoska to dry out possible condensation in the lid. It heated, and sure enough it was then ok in the van.
I think I was cooking potatoes on the upturned trivet at the time it went, and imagine that there was enough steam close to the lid to cause the problem. I think I will discard the trivet in future.
....Roger

Sorry for the late reply Neil
At the Show the table was kept in the overcab area. Not sure if this is the normal storage area.
