just bought a mezan but quite worried by the poor comments, has anyone had a good experience with one & really likes them?
it is 2 yrs old & looks good to us, only 8m miles on clock
help!!!!!!!!!

Hello - and welcome to our fast expanding Group.
Congrats on getting such a virginal 2 year old Mezan - that really is a LOW mileage!!
As for the negative comments you may have read - I think you need to look at the whole picture in context.
Most people on here are Romahome fans and owners - so when a cheaky young imposter bursts onto the scene, it's natural we should compare it with the tried and tested Romahome.
I had a good look at it when it first appeared - and it looked very nice. There were a couple of points I noted which I wasn't keen on - compared again with the Romahome - the main thing that springs to mind was the elevating roof mechanism - it just didn't look as well designed.
Having said that - I'm sure I would learn to live with it, had I been tempted - you obviously liked what you saw, and decided it was for you - so that really is all that matters. As a small camper van it certainly is appealing - and it's on an established chassis - so use it as it was intended - and enjoy it!!

I'm with Mike here...I think falling in love with it is a BIG part of your choice...I'm sure you'll have great times in it...don't let the negative b****s bring you down, just get out there and show them what fun you're having!!

I agree, If it ticks all the right boxes for you then go for it....Its not what you have got - its how you use it... have a great time doing it. dont forget the pics.

Afraid I'm the not to happy Mezan owner but as the other posts say its what suits you and dispite all the faults my (and other) owners have had the 2 litre engine means it goes like a rocket and still delivers excellent fuel consumption.
The decider in getting the Mezan was that I wanted the bigger fresh water tank it had over the similar Romahome models. I also thought (sorry guys) that it looked nicer outside than the Romahome. I should have paid more attention to the bed situation. Being full length in one piece is not a good idea. I also ignored the rear skylight situation. My wife just can't reach the twin grab handles to push it up and its so hard to move that the whole roof flexes everytime its opened. I have replaced the thin bedboards and will eventually cut them in half which will make bedmaking much easier. A request to Auto-Sleepers to buy new (split) covers or be provided with the address of the supplier of the material has fallen on deaf ears. They do not reply to e-mails.
I do feel a little bitter when I see the AS ads "How long does it take to build a better motorhome?" because they seem to have gone from well built with quality componants to chucked together.
I've just returned from an extended trip round the West coast of America in a 6 litre Lexington. A hotel on wheels but not the fun of the Mezan/Romahome designs. What greeted me on return...the black back bumper has two white lines where the colour has apparently washed out of the side seems. The rear door had seized on the one hinge that I have repeatedly lubricated, the top two internal door bolts are showing rust through the cream gloss paint and every, every internal cupboard hinge has had its chrome finish oxidise off to a grey rough finish. The small frosted effect window in the bottom of the rear door is also showing signs of fine cracks. A person I met who had taken delivery of a new Mezan with a slight crack in this window was told he must have slammed the door !
Now this is after ten months. Not very good.
I hope your motorhome has at least arrived in good condition. We did not start spotting faults until we were sat in it on a sunny day which illuminated the scratches/chips and from there the other slapdash trimming became apparent.
I was swayed by a great price ...I got a HUGE discount. Now I can see why. Its just a crying shame that so many Friday afternoon efforts were allowed out of the factory. Hopefully yours is a good 'un.

we are looking at movelite standars & sunncamp aspect but very unsure

Here's the better of the two beds. Note the pink filler and even tape (on the right hand side). The other bed board was delaminated and split both length and width ways.
The thickness is exactly that of a twenty pence coin on top of a pound coin which might do if your light and the boards are not reject material.

Hi A new member and owner of an Autosleeper Mezan. We decided to downsize from a larger van this year as we seemed to be doing fewer longer trips and thought that a van we could keep on our drive and double as our standard vehicle made economic sense. Our Mezan was an ex demo model so was more or less as new. We appreciate that this forum is essentially based on the Romahome but hope a few of us' Mezan owners' can make a contribution and share our experiences.

Welcome Mikeandann, so glad you are participating in our forum, it started off as a purely Romahome forum but there are a lot of other small motorhomes out there of which the Mezan is one, its good to have you on board and your contribution is most welcome.

Just found this forum ---
We have been Mezan owners since December 2006. I thought I might say a few words in praise of this great motorhome.
We have done 14,000 miles since new and have very few complaints.
Yes there are a few design problems but none that can't be fixed.
I'll mention a few.
Mains socket almost on the floor. Double socket fitted on wall near arial socket. Wired to 'existing' socket. Original socket replaced by on'off switch for water heater (relocated from under seat).
Fire Extinguisher moved to dividing section near sink.
Original light carpets removed and replaced with more suitable dark ones.
Removable seat covers fitted.
Removed cutlery tray in cupboard to give more room in under sink cupboard.
Had silver insulation screens made so that cab was accessible at night for storage (Curtains restricted access).
AutoSleeper have been excellent in there service. They fixed a leaking rooflight and replaced a cracked lower rear door 'window' They also fitted opening struts to the rear door window.
I fitted a rear view camera and also a lens to the rear window to improve the rear view.
We have travelled the length and breadth of the Uk and have just reurned from a 2,300 mile tour of Europe. We can honestly say that we are very pleased with the van (particularly the fuel consumption) and have found numerous other campers showing lots of interest.
If anyone has any questions about the van, we would be glad to answer them.
One final point. Has anyone fitted a roll-out side sunroof to a Mezan ?
