Hi All,
Graham asked about the MPG for the new 1.6 engine.
Well I've covered 1800 miles now and have some figures that hang together.
It looks like the MPG is 45 for town and county driving, dropping to 37 for high speed motorway driving.
The trip down to Devizes turned in a figure of 38, bearing in mind there was a long motorway drive with a bit of town driving while we were there.
Had a trip down to Stansted Airport and back on Saturday followed by the same yesterday (Kris was off to Holland visiting relations) that turned in 37 and basically took a full tank of fuel to do both days driving so is a reliable test (didn't use the van in between). Had really good runs each way so was going at 70-75 almost all the way there and back.

Hi Tim. For just 1800 miles that pretty good. I reckon 30000 miles the engine has reached a settled piont and between 50000 and 80000 it will return its best fuel economy, provided you're not too kind to it in its early miles. It's important to give a diesel engine a good beating every now and again, both for removing any sulphur nibs on the injectors and with the newer models to get the catalytic converter in the exhaust properly hot. It's amazing the difference a clean cat makes to both perfomance and economy. Ant

Talking of new engines, we took delivery of our new Dimension 2 on Friday, [great excitement] and I drove it home from Ant's at Avon Motor Caravans, about 50 miles, while Heather followed in the car. The 2.2L engine went well and the onboard computer gave an instant readout of 24.8 mpg, even though we stopped and started in traffic queues through Bristol quite a lot. We are taking Ants's advice and popping off down to Cornwall on a shakedown trip (I believe that's the term) to get the catalytic converter properly hot! That's my excuse anyway! Am considering charging a small fee for a guided tour at the summer meet at Hayfield ;D to help recoup expenses - fat chance! Talk about spending inheritances! But first impressions of the van are good. Off to clean and pack now, monsoons permitting. Mike

I have a 1.9 DW8 engined exclusive probably on eof the last - we bought it recently from a dealer who might have had it in a while. it is averaging at least 40 mpg over 2000 miles. we also have a 2000 Berlingo that we have had from new (we used to pull a caravan with it) and it averages 40 mpg. We have just got without a C15 romahome and that averaged 42mpg

A quick update on the Citroen HDI engines.
I have just taken mine in for its first service (a scary £200) and also for them to check out an over run issue.
It happens when accelerating away from a junction etc and as you dip the clutch the engine revs go up, instead of down, as you release the accelerator - sometimes quite alarmingly high too.
I thought it was a sticky cable but soon discovered no cables its all 'drive by wire' technology!
On speaking to the local Citroen dealer there is a software update that addresses this known issue and its covered under warranty so anyone with similar problems get the update done on your vehicle.

Tim Thanks for that. We have just taken delivery of a new Berlingo Multispace to replace my ageing Honda Civic. This one has the 92 HP diesel and over the first 750 miles of urban and motorway driving has returned (according to the built-in computer) an average of 50.4 mpg. This is of course for a lightly loaded "estate" car body, not a coachbuilt Romahome. I would expect the Romahome to return less, simply because of its weight. Your note about the electronic accelerator is filed away for reference should the same happen to mine. All I have noticed so far is a slight "jerk" when changing from acceleration to over-run in low gears, for example when stop/start in heavy traffic. I will mention this when returning it for its 1000 mile free going over.
