To avoid making the Spring Meet thread too big I've started another for the summer meet. In the Spring Meet thread Johns said: In addition to the above suggestion I would like to propose that we discuss the options for a third meet to be held sometime, somewhere between the date of my first suggestion, above and the “sorted” one at Bridgwater in November I really don’t want to “hog” this area and have no suggestions to make. I just feel that between us all we have the enthusiasm to have something in the big gap between April & November. Again , I look forward to reading your posts to expand/comment on this ;D A meet in the summer months might be best at a large site where you can usually get on without having to book too far in advance - perhaps the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Sandringham? You can often get on there even at Bank Holidays (without electric) Good things are that the site is really nice, set amongst trees and lovely walking in the Sandringham Estate. Within driving distance of Hunstanton, Kings Lynn and RSPB Snettisham. Downside, no pub nearby but some within driving distance. Mobile chip shop does usually come at weekends though!

If it was in the summer, then we could all stay on site and chat in the evening round the bbq or cooking pot Please can it be in the C&CC mid season (up to July 12th or after Sept 2nd) as we pensioners refuse to pay £8.25 each per night plus EHU (if required).

Bring a pup tent and camp in our pitch if you like!! ;D Don't joke - we still have a small 2-person tent for cycle-camping, but the thermarest is nothing like as comfortable as the beds in the Dimension!

As a "pensioner" myself, (had some money left to me and I said thats enough for me to finnish work and enjoy myself, at least for 5 years untill I get the gov. pension) I second Wendys suggestion. Allthough it is a very nice site £8.25 per night is too much for me to pay, and I suspect it is for a lot of others to, but I do like the idea. Martin

No problem, we can try to make some arrangement for before the 12th July. Or perhaps we can think of a large site somewhere else in the meantime. Good excuse to go out and have a look!

Hi everyone,
We will be away touring Derbyshire from the 1st July till the 15th (going to Teversal, Chatsworth Caravan Club Site, and then onto Hayfield) Any chance the meet could be outside those weeks?
If not don't worry, it would be a shame to miss a meet at Sandringham as it is only an hour and a half away from us!! Mind you we are intending on spending a long weekend there early February to get the van started off locally.

Teversal, Chatsworth and Hayfield are very convenient for us, so perhaps we could have the meet when you are in Derbyshire?

Hi wendy,
That's a good idea, plans at the moment are a couple of days at Teversal, a week at Chatsworth then onto Hayfield - no caravans due to access so sounds like quite a nice site. Nothing set in stone yet so any suggestions on dates welcome.

Hayfield is lovely - we've been there several times. Lots of walks directly from the site and fantastic Peak District scenery all round. Bakewell (C&CC site) is another of our favourites but that doesn't have facilities apart from water, EHU and CDP.

then onto Hayfield - no caravans due to access so sounds like quite a nice site. Tim Hayfield is one of our favourite sites, as Wendy says there are walks from the sites - you can get a book from reception with map and details for a few pounds. We go so often that the site managers get to know us! If you cycle there is the Sett Valley trail which runs from Hayfield to New Mills, of course you can walk this too. You can also walk into the village from the site, several good pubs and nice food, and on summer weekends you can watch cricket on the village green - idyllic!

Looks like the Summer meet is going to fit nicely around Tim and Kris's holiday at Hayfield, if anyone wants to go we would recommend booking well in advance as it is not a very big site and gets very busy.

So looks like it will be arrival Friday 13th July for us.
FreddyVan had such a good time with his new friends we can't let the opportunity pass really. We wont get back from London till Monday 9th but sure we will be suffering from withdrawal symptoms by Friday. I will probably ring up to check last arrival times and book then.

It is a lovely site Viv, deep in the Derbyshire countryside.
Worth noting that there is no electric there, not that it will be needed in the summer though.

Hi Joan,
I'll give the site a call this week and let them know what is going on with all the bookings they are about to get flooding in!!
Will be good to see you all again, looks like the whole Summer meet thing has overtaken us as we were discussing dates with Martin before he left!!
Just a quick reminder that we will be at Leek (with does have Electric Hookup) the weekend before - 6th till 8th July, incase anyone can't make Hayfield, we'd be happy to see you there instead.
See you all soon
Tim

Hi all,
Kris phoned the Hayfield site today and has set up the Small Motor Home group with them. The lady said she will try to make sure that we are all placed together or as close as possible. When you book make sure you mention the group but it would help her if I can collate all the booking reference numbers and then Kris will confirm them all with her about a month before we go, this means she will know exactly who wants to be together.
We have also asked about local pubs for a meal, she has given us two names, which we will check out and then publish the info on here for a group decision about who wants to go and where. Apparently one that they recommend is in Hayfield itself about 20 minutes walk along the river path.
Lets see if we can beat the 11 units that we had at Devizes!!

Hi all
Booked up today, Arrive on the 9th depart on the 16th July booked longer as a lot of you said what a nice site it is. I didn't have to mention the group, she asked me, so it seems to be going as planned.
Also booked Leek from the 1st July too, see you there Tim and Kris.
Tim, if its OK I will give you my booking ref. now 700070006, hope its not too soon.

Hi Martin,
Thats's great news, we will get to Leek on the 4th, so see you there, then you'll move on a day before we do to Hayfield so you can suss the site out for us!
Good to hear that the SMH group is getting well known, and its not for being bad either, Paul (Devizes Site Manager) said we were all welcome to go back whenever we wanted....well maybe not Mike from the rumours I heard about his little tussle (only JOKING!!)
Thanks for your booking reference Martin so will note it down for future reference when we confirm everything with the site.

Will book on-line this evening before the site gets full!! It's a lovely site, we go so often that one site manager used to keep us a specific pitch!! Sadly he has moved on. The area where they put the motorhomes is such that even if we are not close together in a group we will still be able to see each other from the pitches and wave . The local pubs are good, one real ale. We've not eaten in them but one of our sons did and was not impressed with the service, will try to find out which one it was. You can watch cricket on the village green too, usually have a match on Saturday or Sunday, very relaxing

Hi Tim and Kris Thanks for setting up the summer meet - how can we resist after our great time at Devizes. Heather and I have today booked up at Hayfield, arriving on Tuesday 10th (like you?) (Martin will have it all sorted by then!) and staying until the Sunday, 15th July. Like Joan we weren't given a booking number, but the warden was aware that we were part of the group. It sounds just the sort of area we love, with plenty walking, cycling, climbing? and particularly socialising with the group! I have been having a nosey around and have found a couple of aerial views of the site, one a bit crowded and the other a bit empty. Hopefully we'll be somewhere in between! Mike and Heather
