That's a shame but there are bound to be other times and we'll make sure they are near a pub!

We'll do our best to drink your share! With such a lot of us this time, it won't be too arduous a task. Look forward to seeing you when the next meet is organised.

Hi to all - including Dave, Dave, and Dave !! Not long to our first 2007 meet now, folks - hope everyone is dusting off their camping gear, as we all know, NOBODY goes camping in the Winter!! With us and Viv having new awnings to erect when we arrive on site, sitting around drinking tea/coffee and yapping in the sun will undoubtedly be a very popular spectator sport - with the benefit of some entertainment thrown in!! Looking forward to it. Mike

Its going to be the first time our awning has gone up too Mike so maybe we should start organising the others to keep us supplied with tea, coffee and buns, while we slave over the "put tab A in slot B" instructions!!! Tim

Hi Wendy, As for times, we are not due to arrive till the Saturday. Expecting it to take about 5 hours to get to you from home so aiming for around 12 midday. I realised after I posted that we had sorted the tea thing earlier in the thread....maybe coffee would be better because you will all no doubt be suffering hangovers from the Friday night in the pub by the time we get there!! Tim

Hi Tim Make sure you don't arrive beford midday or you will have to pay the ridiculous £5 early arrival fee. If we are early we always sit in the van just outside the campsite and wait for the clock to click past 12, then you have to hope the wardens watches are the same as yours. ;D Regards Graham

Quite like the sound of that, thankfully we won't be the main attraction as haven't got an awning. Its the large caravans with huge awnings that can provide most entertainment as we have seen (not involved luckily in) arguments between the owners. Being a C&CC site I am sure there will be a few to watch. No good asking us for help though as never had one would probably get it wrong.
Do you think it will be warm enough for the deckchairs, they only get taken when needed or will it still be the extra heater instead. Decisions decisions, but the wine always finds a space funnily enough.

Well to all of you who are watching us erect our awnings beware that you don't end up as the entertainment as you become the first victims of the camping season!! Tent and awning erecting without prior testing can lead folk to murder and mayhem - so keep your distance!!!!!!!

You tell 'em, Viv - although they WILL be allowed near if bearing a cuppa and cakes!!
Still busy this end, fettling the Bongo - today was spent fitting a hands-free kit for my mobile. Luckily, it seems to work OK - always a bonus!!
Tomorrow is wiring a 240volt socket into the back side panel to operate the fridge, or an electric heater - or even a kettle!! This will be entertaining, as it'll involve Sue pulling, and me pushing the cable through a tube that runs under the engine block.
If this proves viable. then just a case of removing a panel to fit and wire up the socket. I think the 90's technology and relative ease of working on the Bongo is one of it's attractions, compared with a ready-built vehicle like the Romahome - not knocking them - they're great - but a pain to work on for an avid fidler like myself!!
Really looking forward to our first camping trip of the season - then the following Thursday we have a big wedding - our youngest Son is finally getting married - after 11 years together, and two lovely Grand- Daughters, so that will be a highlight. Sue has been giving Oxfam a bashing lately, so intends to go in style!!
I've been practicing walking as instructed - very successfully I might add - I think I could now manage a quarter of a mile, with a couple of breaks in between - impressed, or what?
Mike

That sounds like all the ones on my list. Unless someone has booked and not told us - they could be wanting to have a look at us before they commit themselves to joining us! We are mostly quite harmless.

WOW that's a big list Pauline!! Hope they have enough space for us. We'll (Me and Kris) be there Saturday lunchtime as planned. Looking forward to meeting everyone then. I'm also cheating and practicing putting up the awning on my parents patio this weekend, so when I get it wrong at Devizes you can all laugh even harder Tim

Hi Pauline
We have not booked for the meet as our daughters' first baby is due imminently (think I spelt this correctly!!) ie the 7th March, still waiting! We do however only live in Swindon about 45mins drive away so we may try and come over sometime during the weekend, to meet everyone.
All the best Gill

Hi Gill Our first grandson was due around the time of the last meet, we made it though and baby was born on time a week later. I see your grandchild is now a bit late. Hope you don't have to wait too long! Maybe we will see you with a couple of pictures of new arrival.

Hi, I am looking forward to this meet, I have a hi-top called 'Freda2' my friends Anita & George have a duo called Rosie. I'll have enough trouble remembering the names of the people, without having to remember their van names as well Really looking forward to meeting you all - some for the 1st time and others to see again. BTW our van is MiKeL - named by the warden/manager/whatever they call themselves at Devizes on it's first trip with us.

Hallo All, Not long to go now I have been thinking that we should make arrangements to ensure that we can repeat the popular activity of last time, namely group eating This was second in popularity only to group drinking To this end I have spoken to the man at The Three Magpies, who advises that if we want to be sure of eating as a group on the Saturday evening then we should book well before the Friday we arrive. I will shortly have the menus and will post them on this thread as soon as I can. In the meantime, to keep you interested you can look at the menus on the pubs website, here www.three-magpies.co.uk/menus.htmlI therefore suggest that if you want to be included that should let me know by pm before next Wednesday (21st.)at the latest as I will be away after this. Ideally we should make our menu choices in advance and I would also like to advise the pub of these at the time of booking.

Hi Pauline Terry and I are up for the meal out. Have had a look at the menu and just can't think about it at the moment - in fact am off to bed in a minute or 60 seconds. Will have a look in next day or two, but please book for the two of us for Saturday evening, have eaten here before a couple of times and it was good both times. thanks for organising this. Viv

Yep here too - the Yamahas are well up for this, as it doesn't seem to include a 5 mile hike!!
Looks a nice menu - thanks for thinking of the idea, John.
Not long now
