We had a good time despite the weather trying to dampen (or perhaps that should be drown) our enthusiasm.
Yes, Mike, we did have cake (twice), once from Heather - with afternoon tea - and the other from Joan (Lunnie) after our evening meal. The latter was complete with a candle for the forum's first birthday!
The weather was gorgous on Saturday, especially the afternoon when we had the tea party. Comments on the rest of the weather are best left unsaid.
It was good company and an excellent meal on Saturday night - thanks to Tim and Kris for their organising.

Yes, we also had a lovely time, although we only managed two nights (Friday and Saturday) it was good to see everyone again. Present were Me and Pauline, John and Wendy, Tim and Kris, Joan (Lunnie), Martin, Mike and Heather.
As Wendy says both Joan and Heather brought some lovely cake which was enjoyed by all. Kris has revealed his prowess in the cake making department so we are looking forward to another fine offering next time maybe. ;D
Saturday evening we all spent in the Sportmans Pub which was a short walk from the campsite, the meal was very nice, the beer was good and the company was excellent. A big thankyou to Tim and Kris for organising that.
Martin has stayed on for an extra day but everyone else left on Sunday, on the way out we met two ladies who were camping in the other field in a C15 so had a long chat with them and Martin gave them a sticker for the Small Motorhome Group so hopefully they may come on line and join our merry band.
Hopefully everyone has dried out now, thanks all for your excellent company.

Glad you had a good time. Wished we could have been there.
As you know they wouldn't take a one night booking so looked after work on Friday and yes there were pitches. Great we thought can go and meet everyone again after all. Phoned straight up and were told we couldn't go as even though there were pitches didn't I know it had been raining all day (yes I live and work in Manchester) and they wanted to save the grass on the pitches didn't even ask what sort of unit we had or how many nights.
So we have stayed at home getting ready for the Transit Van owners meet at Gaydon Heritage Museum next weekend. Spent all day washing and polishing FreddyVan so what did it do this morning. Rain aagghh.
Going to work out how many days holiday we have and see if we can join you at Bridgewater instead.

Hi all, so glad you all had a nice time at Hayfield. Sounds like good fun.
Terry's birthday party went well and everyone who was invited came and we had to let someone sleep in the campervan as we had no room in the house. A group of 6 family and friends stayed in our local hotel and although we did not see the last guest out of the house until 2.30am we were up again at 7.30 cooking full english breakfast for 11 of the stragglers who had managed to find beds here. The hotel party also came back and we finally waved goodbye to the last one at about lunchtime!!
I have cleared up most of the debris but am still sitting looking at the kitchen and all the sacks full of empty bottles, cans and general party rubbish and must get out the floor mop.!!!!
Hope the weather gets better so I can relax and recover..

Jana - that is really sad, having checked and seen that the site was showing it had vacancies we had said that perhaps Jana, Simon and Freddy the Van might come afterall. Bet if you had just turned up they would have fitted you in somewhere as there were some fairly well drained places. Never mind, we will look forward to seeing you another time. Viv - sounds like you had a whale of a time! Did you manage to keep the party a secret from Terry until the last minute? Or did he suspect something was being planned?

Hi everyone,
Well we made it home about 4.30pm.....must have caught every sunday driver and set of roadworks going I think!!!
Have manged to get the van cleaned out and two loads of washing have been done already, organised or what??!
Was great to see everyone at the site, shame the weather didn't grace us with more than one afternoon of sunshine, but thanks go to Pauline for delivering on the promise of that and allowing us all to shelter from the wirnd behind their van.
The cakes were excellent and it has definitely set a precedent for future meets.....Kris has a lot to live up to I believe!
Looking forward to the next meet, maybe we should hijack Lunnie's next trip to Turkey...would give all the vans a good run...lol

Or the Tour de France next year as a SMH trip.
We went to the start in London last week and have caught the Tour de France bug. It was great and the tv coverage we have seen hasn't dampened our enthusiasm.
Looking forward to trying the cakes on a future meet, Simon especially likes chocolate cake.
You are organised getting the washing done so soon.

Hi All,
Just arrived home, minus half my exhaust!, only problem was road works at Buxton held up for 45mins.
Great company, excellent in fact, I thoroughly enjoyed myself, even the weather didnt damper it for me.
Jana, I did hear from the warden that he does not take single night bookings at the weekend over the phone, but if you just arrive then he can accept you. I did think you and Simon at the time, but I had no way of contacting yourself. Hope you will be able to make a meet in the future.
All welcome in Turunc, no problem 4 - 18th Oct mark it in your diaries!!!!!
A sincere thank you to Martin for helping me sort out my exhaust! I shall get it sorted out Monday.
Thank you to everyone once again for such a good weekend.
And Viv, I am pleased that Terry's party went well, never mind the mop, a glass of wine, a little snooze and it will look so much better tomz!!

Hi everyone Thanks for a lovely time at Hayfield. Got back to a short dry spell so we could unpack the van, then down it came again! Our cats were pleased to see us, less so us on seeing a live mouse between a curtain and its lining. The grass has had a seeing to today - you always come back to loads of work! Still we were well fortified with cake. I'll try and attach a few photos, one of the site with our leader prominently at the front, then I'll try and put a few of the well dressings - the visit was well timed for this. Pleased to hear Viv and Terry had a great party - sounds as though they need a good rest now! Thanks again to Tim and Kris - it all worked out really well. Mike and Heather

Hi all,
Just got home 1/2 hour ago had a coffee and then put my washing on.
Thanks to all of you for making it a great weekend, and thanks for the pieces of cake, and the large piece with custard from Joan was especially nice, which I had Sunday afternoon as I sat in the van with it tipping it down with rain for the rest of the day.
So much for having an extra day, but I did get my tent completely dry this morning.
Thanks again to you all for making it another good weekend.
Martin

Hi Viv, Everyone seems to see the other "red" ones except me!!
Don't know if I can make Bridgewater as I want to do a bit of rebuilding in my engine and it depends on how I get on with it and how much of a rebuild I need to do.
It shouldn't take me till November to do, but until I start the strip down I wont know, so to be on the safe side I wont book yet.
Glad the birthday party went OK
Martin

Hi Everyone, Well I've finally managed to get the pics downloaded from my phone. They are a bit fuzzy as there wasn't much light in the pub....although the candle is bright enough!! The lack of light didn't stop the cake tasting great though.... Tim

Sounds like everyone had a fun time that weekend.
I am going to need a rest next year, we have had a party every weekend since that weekend, We had Terry's nephew's 40th on 21st and we camped in front garden, friends this weekend, we have little grandson William's Christening this weekend in Bognor, camping at Caravan club site, friend's party next weekend in Dudley and camping on canalside in garden, then on to Lincolnshire to some more friends for the following weekend and camping half way between in the intervening week, I am trying to book into Elvaston Castle not sure if we will manage it.
We also fancy the Great Yarmouth Maritime festival in September but will have to see how we feel.
