Hi Pauline
A few years ago we took our cat on holiday with us to a CL near Brecon. But she disappeared for hours! We let her out at 4.30 am thinking she'd soon be back - didn't turn up until 8.30 pm. Talk about worried! Never again. We went home the next day - absolutely exhausted!
Last week we took Maggie, one of our three year old rescue cats, just one mile to the vet and were absolutely deafened - we never realised she had such a huge voice! She normally has such a tiny squeak and then only at meal times. She made all the dogs nervous in the waiting room (from the safety of her basket).
Does anyone one the forum ever take their cat away with them without problems? I think most cats love their own territory too much.
It's always great to go away, but even better returning home to see them!
Have a good time in Wales, everyone. To the next time.

She normally has such a tiny squeak and then only at meal times. She made all the dogs nervous in the waiting room (from the safety of her basket). Our cat is SO disgusted to have any dog near his carrier at the vet's that he spits and growls (yes growls!!) and even jumps so hard towards the dog that the basket moves along the floor!! Rotweillers have turned on their paws at the sight!! Does anyone one the forum ever take their cat away with them without problems? I think most cats love their own territory too much. sorry might have told this tale before ..........but, we once took one of ours, Jasper, when he was a 12 week old kitten, couldn't bear to leave him at home even with our grown up sons. We were in the caravan at the time. First night he slept without any problems in the bathroom, so the next night we decided to let him sleep in the main part of the van near us. What a mistake! He kept walking about on us during the night and purring in our ears, needless to say he was soon back in the bathroom and didn't go on any more camping trips!

Well we are still waiting for the hospital appt. Until we get this we are unable to book several outings. We are anxious not to have to cancel this appointment as we did cancel it earlier for 6th Sep so we could join daughter in new Forest so don't want to have to cancel again. If it is near the weekend of this meet it would suit us as we have to go to Birmingham so would actually be well on our way there. Fingers crossed please.

Would love to try to make a meet sometime - bearing in mind I've only been on the web site a few months - but, like others, am awaiting to hear on a surgery date which is quite likely to be the 20th September so no chasing around for 2 or 3 weeks after that. I haven't been to Wales in many years so it would have been a good opportunity to "kill two birds with one stone"

Well we got the appointment for 14th in Birmingham hospital so will probably stay up there and head off from Birmingham to join you all in Wales on 21st.
Can anyone recommend any nice campsites between East Birmingham (Dudley area) and Corwen so we can move on up. Like to be very near a nice pub for food one evening - walking distance or better still staggering distance.
Will sort out booking tomorrow .

Sotontraveller - Shame you won't be able to make it but I am sure there will be other meets arranged, so keep trying. Best of luck with the surgery. Viv - So we can uncross our fingers, toes, arms and lets now, I was getting some strange looks walking round like that. Glad you can fit in the meet it will be great to see you and Terry again, sorry we can't recommend any campsites between Birmingham and Corwen but hopefully someone will. I don't know what's happened to HideHi, he suggested this meet and now seems to have disappeared, are you out there Gwil? Graham

Hi Viv
Yes me and Pauline wanted to go, hoping to get there Saturday lunchtime, stay Saturday night and leave Sunday. So we will keep you company at least. Not sure what's happened to HideHi, he's gone quiet.
Jackie expressed an interest and seemed keen and so did Steve and Denise.

Hi again
Are we just booking direct and if so are we indicating we are with the Small Motorhome Club? Hopefully we are going to be pretty free the week before so will be stopping off at other sites on the way and will certainly be there by Saturday of that weekend.

Does anyone one the forum ever take their cat away with them without problems? I think most cats love their own territory too much. I don't have a cat, but I have just got home from a w/e meet, and my 'neighbours' had 2 dogs and their cat in their smallish motorhome. They rent their house out in the summer, and live in their motor home with the animals all summer. But they did have a harness and extendable lead on the cat. My friend who has a mobile home always takes her cat when they visit it. She says that he really enjoys going, and he is free to wander wherever. Jackie

Hey I would LOVE to come - only prob is, I don't know when the garage are going to sort out this fuel pump.
I don't think I'm going to make it in time for then (I also have to get the fridge working and other stuff.)
Count me in for the next one - that maybe next year, or whenever, I'm dying to have a go and it would be lovely to know I won't be quite so on my own!! corwen isn't far from here, it would be ideal for my first 'go'!

Hi Stan and Jeanne
This meet was LAST September NOT this September please don't turn up and expect anyone to be there. As it turns out the meet never took place as Hidehi who was organising it disappeared never to return to the forum, we hope and pray he is OK.
Our last meet at Kendal didn't generate much interest we only had 3 units turn up but Yamaha is organising a meet for the Bridgewater Carnival, (see separate thread) probably a bit far for you though.
Hopefully we will organise something in your neck of the woods soon.
Graham
