Hi All
Are the jacks used for demounting a romahome from its host vehicle, tools that are specific to romahomes, or are they generic jacks?

Hi Marc Yes they are specific to Romahome but you can modify generic jacks. Did you know there is a thread on demounting? Hi Gloria and Ron. It's all very well having the pick-up sides but they're not much use if you don't have the demounting legs. They ( 2 of them) are "L" shaped jacks with inch box section tops that fit into the square jack points at the front on each side. When demounting fit these jacks in place and take up the slack by winding the legs down using the rear steady brace. then realease the retaining bolts/brackets from the body ( 4 of them). Now wind down the rear steadies, pull apart the lighting socket ( like a tow bar socket). Then wind all 4 steady/legs untill the body is 2 inches clear, check nothing is still attached and drive the rascal out. Fit sides and tail gate and hey presto you have a pick-up truck! All in about half an hour -ish! Ant :-*thanx so much Ant, u have been most helpful. all i really need to know now is where the retaining bolts might be. It will probably be me - Gloria- who will be getting her boiler suit on so be gentle with me pls. Gloria Gloria. There should be 4 fixings, 1 in each seat locker, they'll have a metal plate on the inside. Some have 3 bolts to each plate, the 2 out ones normally just hold the plate in position, the large central one is the one to undo. ( This assuming the body fixings haven't changed from the original). Ant Are your fixings on the outside (different from the above)? Derek

Hi Derek
I don't know whereabouts the fixcings are - the van's down in Brighton but I'm in London in the week. I've just been lokking at farm jack hire, but that would be £50 or more even if it worked. Thanks for the pointer to that thread, I've printed Ant's instructions!

I just hope mine are too, I assume by fixing points we mean those bits you showed me that need to be unbolted. If they're inside I'm very stuffed .... I'm becoming tempted just to get someone with a thermic lance to vaporise the ***** lock!! Nice to meet you both at the weekend, we won't make Kendal, far too far from Brighton, but we'd like to come along to one of the meets at some stage.
