Hi All
Just thought i would post a picture of our new motorhome. Having trouble inserting the picture but its a suzuki supercarry romahome.
Its lovely, not been out it in yet, but bringing it back on the motorway went very well, only a few passing lorries.
I think we are looking to go somewhere close for our very first weekend away, perhaps Newhaven or Sherwood forest, and we have to buy all the accessories that go with it - the first thing to buy is the kettle i think.
Let me know how you went on, on your first journey out and the worries you had.

hello, welcome to the forum, you've struck lucky!!
where about's in S yorks are you? we're probably not that far from you, in Sheffield. We also have demountable its been remounted onto a Daihatsu hijet. Only had 1 trip so far, but loved it. Off up to N yorks next weekend and planning for the cotswolds in june.
I haven't been, but friends tell me that Clumber park is a great site, everything close at hand and modern.
If you need any help with anything, get in touch. As for worries you may have before you go, forget them, you'll love it i'm sure!

wow! Lovely vehicles! Makes mind look like a very very old lady! LOL! Can you both manage without extension wing mirrors? I couldn't see doodly in mine, so got some extensions. At least I can see now when I need to pull over to let the cars go past! What's your cruising speeds? Mine likes to go at around 40-45, but has been known to reach 50-55 with the wind behind me going down a hill!! ;D ;D Hellishy unstable on busy motorway/duel carriageway. In fact it says to avoid motorways in the Owners Handbook.

Hi All – nice to hear how you have got on in your mini campers.
Glenw I live in Sheffield too, where did you go on your first trip? got to get things together as not got anything not even a cup, Been to Sherwood Forest a long time ago and that was nice – and a farm park near by too.
Oh yes and a corkscrew will put that on the list. satchmoshaz – yours looks a little gem. – mine is an H reg so an old lady too JayJay – brought the van back from Thurnscoe to Sheffield on the M1 was quietist and was not too bad, top speed of 50 but did not want to push it. Mirrors was ok too,
Being a bit cheeky but whos insurance do you use, finding prices between nearly £400 and £250
So many questions – where do you start ? where did you start ? Cannot wait to get off somewhere, but a bit chilly at the mo. Do you camp in all weathers

I used Adrian Flux too. Fully comp and insured contents, limited mileage though (quite a lot of miles, I have to say) , which brought down the price to around £120. Quoted more on the phone and I hesitated, so the chap jumped in and offered a lower quote! Age and experience have a lot to do with insurance quotes too, and how many years no-claims. 5 stars on all of those!

we have to buy all the accessories that go with it - the first thing to buy is the kettle i think. Let me know how you went on, on your first journey out and the worries you had. Loads of worries first time out, Kriss! Accessories - well most of the things you have in your home and can simply take with you - plates, dishes, cutlery, etc. electric Kettle if you have EHU, gas kettle also (doubles as a water carrier and always handy. Pans, etc (also have two mess tins £1 each from Poundland) quicker to heat things and you can eat out of them as well, saves on washing up - and gas - and they are square = easy to pack. Sleeping bags, pillows, - or duvet. Spare duvet if room. Hot water bottles. Tea towels, towels. Matches and a lighter. Torch. Bucket, washing up bowl. Waste water container? (I use a bucket). Got a luggable loo too, very useful esp. last thing at night/first thing am. Good waterproof clothing and wellies. A clippy on light bulb, best gadget I've bought yet! An ordinary small table lamp will do, but great if on EHU and out of the way as well. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220220164356&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_ReBay_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=360034166171&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CategoryProximity&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=its%3DS%252BI%252BSSCan't think of anything else right now but will be back if I do! Being a realtive newcomer to campervanning, there's lots I still need to learn too! Oh, modified to add - I took off my pelmets over the windows and turned them the other way up so I have little shelves to put things on to hand. also a little tool box/bag containing screwdrivers, spare bulbs, tape, and anything else you might need for the engine.

Oh, and some blocks of wood for under the back stabilisers. Had to borrow some off Martin at Wolverley - good job he remembered to bring them! And I agree with Glen about going to a meet - that was my first time of actually camping and not using as a day van and the advice and help I got from everyone was really great! Couldn't have done it without! Ooh - and a small fire extinguisher. I bought mine from www.amazingoutdoors.com for £9.95, along with a collapsible wash basin and a pets travel lunchbox! all great products, postage if ordered online is £5, no matter how many things you order which can't be bad!

Oh, and some blocks of wood for under the back stabilisers Well the stabilisers are fine by themselves on a hard standing (like the drive where mine is parked) but at a camp site like Wolverley on grass, it's iffy to try that as you never know if they are going to sink into the surface. You can buy little gizmo's (for caravans) to put underneath them to stop them sinking, but Martin's wooden blocks worked perfectly, so I'm off to cut up some wood in a mo'! - I've spent enough this month on gadgets!

I hope I haven't stepped on your toes, Kriss, but I've just bought the above item!! I usually use an old clip-on desk lamp which I find perfect and was looking for another one. Thanks Jayjay.

stores.ebay.co.uk/Baileysbigstore_W0QQ_trksidZp284.m183QQ_trkparmsZits%3DS%252BI%252BSSBaileys is an ebay shop which sells loads of the clip on lightbulbs! All the same price and postage, on buy it now... cgi.ebay.co.uk/CLIP-ON-SPOT-LIGHT-MAINS-PLUG-IN-LAMP-Standard-bulb_W0QQitemZ220222789330QQihZ012QQcategoryZ112583QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1713.m153.l1262I had a small table lamp to start with, but after seeing just how versatile Martin's and Lunnies clip on's were, and how easy to find somewhere to put it (big issue in small camper!) I sorted one out for my next trip. These have a nice long lead on them as well, so you can plug it in and still clip it to a window sill or something. Another useful addition is having an electric plug extension. I only have two three pin plugs at the rear of the roma near the cooker, so useful to have an extension for the TV which hangs from a shower rail over the luton. Will also be useful to power things in the awning! You need to watch how many things you have plugged in at any one time though! My rule of thumb is to only use one heating thing at a time, so say I wanted to boil a kettle, I'd switch off the little radiator while I did that. I also bought some more 'big pegs' - Dereck and Penny (Pendel) very kindly gave me a couple at Wolverley as I was struggling with the awning and they were brilliant! I've bought some more from Wilco's (in the car department). You can also use them to clip the extension out of the way, along to where you want it to go. I don't have a smoke alarm, Kriss - but I have just bought a small powder fire extinguisher. Apparently required for camp sites nationwide!

Just checked Sooty and she does have a powder extinguisher (One less item to buy ) Insured by Adrian Flux 186.00 fully comp - limited milage but i did ask for that as only got the weekends and 1 week free this year. Going to buy a few bits tomorrow, so its already to go when we eventually get off. Hubby fitted a cd/radio today, so now we have music to cover the engine noise a little Not much wants doing in the van, would like some more covers & curtains but they are not urgent, but looking for some nice upholstery material. Thank you again for all your info - its much appreciated - keep the ideas coming please
