Little Daisy is in the garage again today, having new top & bottom hoses on the radiator, new fan belt, back tail light fixed. Oh, and if they have time, sorting out the cab interior light - just a wire under there I discovered, not even a bulb or I'd try myself.
The garage deliberated for a while over where to get the parts, in the end I ordered them myself from Bedford Rascal.com and got them posted out to me.
so I hope that when I go and fetch her home, all will be done that needs to be done at last... ;D
Off to Scotland next month! ;D

Hi JayJay
Sounds like your getting all your little bit and bobs sorted out, probably a good idea to get it done before you go to Scotland, then you can go with a bit of peace of mind, relax and have a great holiday.

Don't know about the piece of mind, Graham! She's 21 years old, so I'm just wondering if she's up to it! LOL! Don't know if I am either, (over 21, haha) but there's only one way to find out! ;D Only doing 100 miles or thereabouts in a day, as I know she'll be ok that far... just that there are 400 miles to the ferry, still, can but try.

What ferry's that, are you going to a Scottush Island, or the Shetlands perhaps? Don't know about the piece of mind, Graham! She's 21 years old, so I'm just wondering if she's up to it! LOL! Hi Marc - 400 miles to Ullapool in the Highlands approx... then the CalMac ferry to the Outer Hebrides, also Known as the Western Isles! The Calmac's are pretty good, and always have somewhere you can sit with your dog out of the wind. However, they are usually on the outer deck, hard seats and no glass in the windows. I'm not looking forward to this bit as it's a three hour crossing! Nearly froze to death on a 1-hour ferry to Islay a couple of years ago. A different ferry to the Orkneys was the worst - although only an hour, dogs had to stay in vehicles and not allowed on deck anywhere - my dog howled and you could hear her all over the ferry, it was awful. She's a good sailor (better than me!) when not locked in a vehicle. The thread on this trip is here: smallmotorhome.proboards105.com/index.cgi?board=meet&action=display&thread=1710

Hi Jayjay I think you're very brave doing such a big trip in such a vehicle! I suppose I'll get used to distances once our first trip is out of the way (Glastonbury). No problems in terms of height, I assume ferries cater for campervans pretty well? Poor old dog, doesn't sound much fun being cooped up, although I can see their point (the ferru company's that is, not the dog's ). Hi Marc - yes I think I'm being extremely brave! ;D
Not so much on the distances (I'm used to driving up to Scotland, been doing it for years) but the speed this time, and the fact that I have to avoid motorways and it will take 3-4 days to get where I used to go in approx 8 hours in a fast car.
However, having said that, I'd discovered that going more slowly and being higher up in a cab is a lovely way to travel - the motorway isn't nearly so interesting as all the little villages you go through on the A roads... and in Scotland.. majestic lochs magically appear out of nowhere... mind you, there are no motorways up there - just signs on the A roads to 'please allow overtaking as impatience causes accidents'!
Ooh can't wait now! ;D
