Please could any Romahome demountable "transplant" experts out there give me some advice? I recently bought a Romahome demountable which is currently attached to a 1985 Daihatsu pick up. The Daihatsu has seen better days and therefore I am looking to buy a new vehicle. From the research I have undertaken so far I have concluded that the following vehicles are possible contenders: Daihatsu Hijet, Suzuki Carry, Bedford Rascal & Honda (import). Any tips, thoughts or pointers welcome! Thanks

Hi bourbon,
I've got a demountable on a 2000 hijet, the 1.3 petrol. I'm led to believe this is the most reliable engine. When I get chance, i'll post a couple of website links, 1 for a company that imports honda's and remounts the romahome onto them for you and another for a mini blog with photo's of someone fitting the back on to a hijet for the first time. I can't post them at the mo cos i'm on works computer!!

this is the site descrbing how to mount onto a hijet, if you click on the photo's there is more info with each one. www.pbase.com/stevehorn/fixingand this is the site that can remount your romahome onto a new import honda acty www.actyvan.net/About%20Us.htmlanother vehicle you could probably add to your list is the piaggio porter. its basically a rebadged daihatsu hijet and are still being made and imported into the UK slthough I think the stockists maybe limited

Thank you for the info!
At the moment I am having trouble even finding a pick-up to buy, let alone de-mounting and re-mounting it!
I have seen a few on the internet, but they are either over 200 miles away or too old.
Anyone listenting out there who knows where I can acquire a suitable pick-up from - please don't hold back! I would prefer one up to 4 years old as a maximum and can spend around £4,500 for a really good one.
Here's hoping.............
