MOT due on 'van next week. I know I need two new back tyres, but can't see anything else that she would fail on.
Just trying to source two 12" tyres! Anyone know anywhere that has them in stock around South Cheshire?
I will be phoning local Quick fit and Selecta tomorrow to see what they come up with.
Can someone tell me what spec I should be asking for? It's a bedford rascal pickup base. I think I need heavy duty tyres - is that correct?
Thanks, Jay:-)

quick update - off for the new tyres later. I phoned all the local tyre places and prices ranged from nearly £100 for two down to £72 - but I'd have to go quite a way to get them fitted. In the end I chose a local firm at the other end of the village - Tyres2Go, ordered yesterday, delivered to them this morning and called to say they had arrived and will be fitted later on today - £77.00 inc. VAt and fitting and balancing, etc. Tomorrow or Thursday is MOT time!

Thanks for the good luck wishes, Graham. Keep your fingys crossed - it's tomorrow at 1.45, have to take it to the garage at 12.00pm...
The chaps where I took it for the back tyres today said I may get a cautionary note on the front tyres - they are well within what they should be, but were made in 2002! It's not a fail, but might be picked up.
The new tyres are WOW! Wish I could afford the same for the front... maybe later.

I would bite the bullet if I was you and get rid of the front tyres asap. A front end blowout is too frightening to contemplate. As a temporay measure you could swap the font tyres to the back (Rear wheel blowouts rea very nasty but not as bad as front.)

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
She Passed!!!!
First time, no cautionary notes!!!
Peter, I was wondering whether to switch the fronts to the back - however, most of the strain/weight bearing is on the rear end, hence the tyre pressures being higher in the back tyres.
So I didn't tell them to do that, however, as soon as I can, I'll buy s'more tyres for the front.
He hehe told my son (aged 30) Daisy had passed - and he said, 'sell it quick!!' LOL! Mind you, he has got a point as I don't know how much longer I can keep 2 vehicles on the road! Last month. car insurance. This month, Van MOT, Next month, Car MOT and Van insurance... it all seems to come at once!

I agree with Joan, get rid of the car your van is small enough to be a dual purpose vehicle.

Thanks! It sure was a relief! My original intention was to sell the car and just keep the camper on the road. However, the seats are very uncomfortable, it's manual and not automatic, and doesn't go very fast! As I'm disabled, I'm pretty sure I couldn't drive the little vanny full time for the afore-mentioned reasons. Ok for short bursts! And my sister has moved 400 miles away to Scotland. Takes a day in the car, but three days plus in the van...

Jay Jay then upgrade to a c15 with pas as soon as you can, best of both worlds then I'd love to, Joan... Only prob is, I can't afford one! Daisy cost £2K, which was all I could afford - even the cheapest c15 is double that. Ah well. Am forever day dreaming at the ones I see on Ebay and the like. Watching a toyota Hiace at the mo - diesel and auto! ah well, dream on!
