Hello all, I have been reading the manual, downloaded with thanks, and notice the Porta 235 is recommended for the Roma. It states that it fits in one of the underseat storage areas. Seems a bit unlikely to me, would be convenient though! see what I did there? Has anybody managed to fit one of these items, or similar, in said storage spaces? Am heading off to Switzerland again on the 23rd and will be taking my nippers out whilst over there, so one of these would be great for them overnight. Should be fun with the three of us zooming around the Alps, well, perhaps zooming is a bit ambitious, chugging more like! Ta for any info, Steve (chowzamma)

I have one in mine, it space is behind the drivers seat, if you look at the seat frame work, there is an opening, this space is for you to release the opening in the toilet when used.

Hiya Lunnie, I hope I'm not being a prawn but do you have the aforementioned Porta P 235? And is this the only model from that company that will fit in the locker on the offside? Is your Roma a Hytop as well? Loads of questions for ya to be going on with, promise not to bother you too much in the future! Steve.

Hi Steve,
I have a porta in my hi top and like Lunnie's its stored in the locker behind the drivers seat. It's really handy and we use it at night in the 'well' space. Don't know which number/model mine is though. It came with the van.
Sooz.

HI steve,
Mine is the 335 and it fits no problem, I have owned a C15 1989 Hytop and now own C15 1999 Hytop.
No problem about bothering me, just bother away, any help or assistance is no problem at all, which I am sure is the same for every member of this forum.
Take your vehicle to a caravan shop and just try the different sizes in the allotted space, so you will not have to guess.
Regards - Joan

I bought my porta loo from www.worldofcamping.co.uk It was much cheaper than my local accessory supplier and I am sure it arrived within 24hours of ordering. It fits perfectly in the understaorage behind drivers seat.

This thread really is SH*ITE, isn't it? Mike I was THIS close. Thought better of it being a newbie and all. So, anyway, speaking of showers (ahem), have any C15ers here worked out a way to get cleaned up on board? I'm thinking of an advanced strip wash, kind of thing. Using the shower block on a site is fine when on a site but I intend to spend as much time as possible free camping. Me and the dog get pretty sweaty/grubby after a walking day. His fault, he likes to go off road. Ideas?

Hi Robem - just to show I do have an occassional serious side - if freecamping, how about a solar shower?
Haven't seen one in the flesh - but it's a bag you hang in the sun all day, which then heats to give you a warm shower- if you are off the beaten track - don't want to frighten the natives!!

Hi Robem - just to show I do have an occassional serious side - if freecamping, how about a solar shower? I use a solar shower bag when free camping in warmer climes. Works great. It fits behind the passenger seat on a bracket I made. I leave it full, so it is an extra few gallons of water available for washing as well. Best way to heat it quickly is to put it on the dashboard in the sun. Much faster than outside, where the breeze can slow down the heating. I hang it from a clip attached to edge of the rear roof vent/light and shower outside the back door. This is only practical in very private spots. Usually I move the van a few feet right after, as it leaves a muddy patch by the door. One of those green plastic fibre doormats to stand on helps. It usually lives just inside the door, where it helps keep the dirt from coming in on my feet. I also have a shower attachment on a hose that fits perfectly over the tap. Lets me spray over the sink for an inside mini-shower. Good to wash what little is left of my hair. Keep thinking that it would be possible to organize a wrap around shower curtain to shower in the space between the sink and the cooker. Would have to drill a drainage hole and fit it with a removable plug. Something like the ones on boats comes to mind. Anyone tried this? It would mean removing the carpeting and using mats that can be taken away and put back after the floor has dried. The curtain would hang from bits of cord tied near the roof between the cupboards on each side. Seems do-able. Lots of things seem do-able when I am daydreaming. I just never get around to doing them.

Heat your water, use a bucket or bowl, or as I have it is the drawer from one of those plastic stacker draw set. It fits inside the cupboard with my food etc, easier to pull it out, then on my knees reaching the back of the cupboard.
Fill up said bowl/draw and start at the top and work your way down, easy peasy. Baby wipes are not just for babies either.
Mind you I was brought up in a house with no bathroom facilities, so just back to my childhood.
On the Outer Hebdrides, it was outide with bucket and kettle, but my husband did assist, oh memories of such a beautiful outside bathroom.
Have a solar bag as well, but never used.
I dont need hot water either, quite enjoy a refreshing cold shower.

Hi Robem You'll get used to our Mike (Yamaha), he's our resident comedian and manages to keep us all smiling. Graham Evening all, Graham. I read about the solar bag thinger, Mike, but it's not so much the water as the getting it on you and hygienically disposed of, that I'm worried about. Geonomad talks about fitting a shower rose, kind of thing and just standing outside (my first idea) but I worry that leaving a er wet patch might be somewhat anti-social. Note that I have a city boy's ideas about freecamping. Whilst delving into the woods might be The Whipster's choice I was thinking more of parking up somewhere quiet just off the main drag, discreet and proper. Drilling a plug hole is tempting, I must say. Mezans (bite my tongue!) have one in the open space, but the waste goes to the waste tank, I gather. Don't ask me how. Of course, the wet wipes idea is the best, mike j et al, let's face it. For me. My dog, however, will need rather more attention. Unfortunately, he never came to terms with being a sighthound, growing up with a working JR. Eighteen months when I got him, and a fine ratter. I won't bore you with the finer details of ex-tracting a long thin streak of p**s from a hole in the ground in the dry, never mind the wet. He wouldn't be too keen on a cold shower, lunnie, romantic or not. Maybe I'll have a word with Ant, as I intend to buy my C15 from him when I'm ready. Thanks for the input!

For showering I use maplins 12V submersible battery powered or from car socket pump in a bucket of hot water. Use a loo tent for privacy and currently a small childrens paddling pool as a shower tray.
It actually is as good as any onboard system and has the advantage of being very roomy as some onboard motorhome solutions are a bit cramped.

I grew up in the 50s in a council house in Bedford with no facilities. I fondly remember the corrugated tub coming into the kitchen from the shed to be filled from the kettle on Saturdays. By the time my younger brother got in, the water probably made him dirtier rather than cleaner.

The memories was. Being in the open on a beach, in absolutely gorgeous setting, just the beach, the birds and my hubby.
Fortunately, with the tin bath, I did not have to share it with anyone, being an only one!
Also remember going to the publc baths, and my uncle giving me a key to obtain extra water, but you could only use it, when another bath was being filled.
Happy days.
(didnt realise you were speaking about a dog!)

Memories for me too I was the youngest of 4 sisters and had to get in the bath after whoever's bath nite it was so I had to have three times the baths everyone else had - result - not had a bath in 25 years - stopped smelling after 20 years The experience has obviously damaged me - life is still not fair either. Then again a bath in front of a real fire might be romantic if only I could find someone to share it? ?

They've fitted a gas/electric hot water systems for me and perspex lined the well between the fridge and wash basin and fitted a drain which feeds into the sink drain. We weren't quite sure how to make the shower curtain work, without leaving something to bang my head on, permanently attached to the ceiling, but they're working on it. I'll let you know how it turns out once I've got it! Jj

How much is it costing? Is it only the footwell that will be watertight? Etc etc etc ... We have a HyLo at present and may be thinking of changing to a newer Duo in the future. But the lack of shower is a consideration that perhaps (?) we ought to be moving bigger. But we don't WANT a bigger vehicle! Details and piccies please ASAP

If we camp up without shower facilities we wash quite easily and efficiently using a small washing up bowl with water heated in a kettle. We keep a washing up bowl anyway so I just bought another in a different colour, they stack so the personal washing bowl takes up no more room. I use non brand Jeye cloths cut into smaller squares as a disposable flannel and use just the smallest drop of shower gel in the water. I can certainly manage an all over wash without a shower. I use facial cleansing wipes anyway when camping. There are also waterless and no rinse products available. Not for me though as I prefer water to wash in. www.norinse.co.uk/home.phpI managed years at my parents home as a youngster with no shower and only a weekly bath and hair wash!!!

This sounds rather like my method only I use cold water - except in winter when I recycle the lukewarm contents of my hot water bottle! In hot weather I can't resist dangling my feet in a fast-flowing stream (Aysgarth Falls in Yorkshire are highly recommended) or having a shower beneath a remote waterfall - some of the best are in the Brecon Beacons!

No, this is a 1996 Citroen C15 Hytop that I'm buying from a dealer who is doing the extra work for me. It's costing me £500 for the changes, of which the most expensive is the gas and electric water heater, but also includes a reversing camera. We initially talked about putting a shower tray in the well, but I'm guessing it didn't fit as they came back to me with the perspex lining idea. I think this is probably a better idea anyway, as I expect that routinely standing or putting luggage on a proper shower tray is likely not to be a good idea. Not quite got the shower curtain plan finalised. As far as I'm concerned, I'm happy if the sink area is all incorporated into a 'wet area', but I don't think getting the fridge or gas rings wet would be too advisable. I should get it next week, so photos as soon as I have them! Jj

Graham & Pauline - is it possible to yank these shower discussions into a new thread on C15 showers - seems we changed topic in mid-stream? Hi Peter Unfortunately this is not an option with this forum, it has been suggested to pProboards that they could write it into the next upgrade but as yet we can't move individual posts only threads. The only option at the moment is to stay on topic in a thread and if you move onto another subject then start a new thread, easier said than done I know ;D Graham
