Hi everyone - Been gone for a long time. Murph (the terrier) and I spent a fair proportion of winter campervanning in Greece and Italy and are now up in N Wales making some dosh for the next trip. I've been on another motorhome forum lately where there's been a couple of people v interested in Romahomes. I've swung them to this forum and they've been very grateful! But it all got me pining away for my old Outlook (now in a Trigano Tribute). My needs have changed, and I'm thinking of coming back to the fold. Saw the new Nemo (with Ant in it!) at the NEC last year and am impressed. Sure hope to read more about it and wondering if it'll hold its residual value as well as the Outlooks. I may even be tempted back to a new or nearly-new Outlook, but with Eberspacher for wild camping in winter (on a lovely beach in Greece!). Hope to hear your thoughts... Anyway, hope you are all well and looking forward to the new season! Jacquie

Hello Jacsprat.
We got a new Outlook a couple of weeks ago, part exchanged our 07 Tribute. Best thing we ever did. First trip we reckon 48mpg instead of 28, a delight to drive, NO rattles when driving, no carrying about stuff you don't need, we are warm when driving - first time since 07! The storage capacity is also greater than the Tribute. The list is endless.
Go on - I'm sure you want to!

You've just been on MHF Jacobite!!!Yup, I know all the upsides, but I like the flexibility of my 2003 Tribby (better-respected than the new Tributes). Problem is, I spend months away at a time, usually in the winter, and I love having a shower handy... Spent many an occasion sponge-bathing in the old Outlook whilst freezing my doolallies off. I would defo get an Eberspacher if I went back to the beloved Romahome. Jacquie AND - There is the bicycle issue - even with a folding bike, there is NOWHERE to put it in the Romahome without blocking the aisle - doesn't fit in the luton. Anyone else have this problem??

You must have smaller ones! I'm into cycle touring as much as campervanning so plenty of kit to bring along - HOWEVER - I'm always up for the challenge of downsizing.

I love the romahomes but have to be realistic. Visited Ant and drove one...loved it but....
1. I need to seat three people occasionally this means I have to buy a Pullman layout which would make it outside my price bracket at the moment...... the older ones are two person carriers
2. The bike issue. I have a son that is a serious biker who I transport from time to time.. I would need a bike carrier... (yes I know some of you slide it in the main van but it is not ideal).
This is a real problem because my heart is taking me towards things that are not fulfilling my requirements...

Speak to Ant at Avon
Some of the early berlingo based Romahomes were true 4 seaters with a pair of removable seats complete with belts (doesnt make much sense I know but ring him and he will explain.

I always take my full-sized bike. This is my solution. The (home made) tube that used to be clamped to ladder racks is now bolted on to one of the side benches. One set of cushions is left behind. I have always advocated that carrying a bike with the front wheel removed and the forks in a dummy spindle is the safest way. ...Roger. sod it .... can't upload image

Thanks Graham - nice to have a gander over here again. Been looking at the ??R20??. Things have definitely moved on since I sold my Outlook. Call me old-fashioned, but I'm not keen on the numerical monikers! I think I'll have to reel in my desperate longing for the fully-loaded Exclusive for a while though . I could do worse than my Tribby, but as soon as the motorhome gods allow...! Thanks for the tip on your bike Roger! Jacquie

Hi,
Haven't been here for a while myself but interested in the bike debate. Been an on and off cycler all my life and found the answer in a romahome is folding bikes. We put ours in the central aisle while travelling then store them outside with covers under and over when we arrive at our destination. Then we use them as we please. We don't go long distances so maybe more dedicated cyclists might not find this satisfactory but they get us around.
I think it depends on what you want to do. We cycle to local tourist attractions and to shops for supplies. There are some good deals available on t'inernet at the moment. Probably because these businesses are in trouble just now unfortunately.
Sooz.
