Ant mentioned that Romahome are bringing out a new version R25. I can't wait to see it. Will try and get to NEC. I hope the beds are as good as the Outlook ones as we find them easy to set up either as singles or U shape and really comfortable. www.freebornmotorhome.co.uk/news.php?view=2009-08#article14On the gas thing front I hope they have what was mentioned in the other thread ie a refillable system!

Hiya Viv - am I behind the times here in darkest Zumerzet - have you changed your Duo for an Outlook? If you have, I must have missed your post about it.
What about the blown air heating for our Terry, then - hope he isn't gonna freeze, or does the new van have it fitted?
Hope you are both well.

Hi Mike
I gather you are having a CRAFT moment today! We have always had an Outlook and will be checking out the new Romahome which is going to be on the new Berlingo base and has a dedicated toilet cubicle but is not much bigger than the Outlook overall!
Stayed on a farm recently and the farmer took me on a tour of his beautiful farm on his quadbike, with views of Holy island and the curve of the coast in Northumberland. Great fun, his son on front and me on back! I can see why you like them.
We are now often down your way in Weston Super Mare as daughter lives and works there. We camp up near her for the odd weekend.

Don't tell anyone, but, I'VE SEEN IT ............
Well part built anyway.
Freeborn are having a meet in Surrey at the end of September (anyone else invited/going?) where it will be previewed.
It will be interesting to see if any of the suggestions I made have been incorporated.
In the meantime, my lips are sealed!

Barry, I can't wait to see it and no I have not had an invite but lately I have to admit I do tend to dump stuff from them. Should have read it all first!
Is it going to be worth the wait and do you reckon I will be getting my plastic card out, would get lots of John Lewis points if we bought one on it??
I hope they have incorporated your feedback.

In the meantime, my lips are sealed! Come on Barry, just throw us a few tasty tit bits, we won't say who told us. No, I won't spoil the surprise ... except to say that it seems to be more R20 than R40, with perhaps a hint of R30, but no evidence of R10 or HyLo. Mind you, when I saw it the body had been mounted on the chassis but all the interior was in pieces on the workshop floor waiting to be installed, so it was a little difficult to visualise the finished product. Also the inside furniture was still being developed so things may have changed since I was there. The new Berlingo base vehicle does seem to be a little larger than that used for the current R20 and it seems logical therefore that the new R25 should have expanded just a tad. Best advice is - wait and see.

I reckon it is going to be just a couple of inches wider and a few inches longer than the R20 as the new Berlingo base is that bit bigger. I also think it will have a dedicated loo space. Maybe the driver and passenger seats will be incorporated if it has hints of R30. Hope the beds are as good as the R20.
Let's not put money on it though.
I will be looking at this one and the Nu Venture to compare.

Can you put a bike rack on it though that is the burning question as far as I am concerned.! Then I will move heaven and earth to get one!

Maybe the driver and passenger seats will be incorporated if it has hints of R30. "Hints of R30" - I was thinking more of galley area, but as that was in pieces on the workshop floor and still being developed, it might have changed by now. I am not sure if there would be enough room in a Berlingo cab to mount rotating seats, and what about the difference in floor levels between the cab and rear platform? Good thought though. Posted by roamingsue on Yesterday at 7:23pm Can you put a bike rack on it though that is the burning question as far as I am concerned.! Then I will move heaven and earth to get one! I still has the rear door and has a rear overhang to the body (as per the R20 and R40). Fitting a (towball mounted) bike rack was ruled out for us on our old HyLo as the towing bracket would have reduced ground clearance too much (not to mention the effect on the steering by adding weight so far back). We always packed the bikes inside the van between the beds so as to have better weight distribution, and a right pain it was when travelling. That was one of the reasons why we eventually changed to a Dimension. But as I keep saying, have patience and all will be revealed in its final form in due course.

Sounds very exciting. I hope that Romahome will update their website with the R25 details as soon as it is launched. Usually they are very slow to make website changes.

Hi Barry, we have been invited to the meet in surrey, dont think we will be able to make it, a bit to far for two days, Dancer Sorry that you can't make it, a two night stopover does seem a bit short for a long(ish) drive. After the two day meet we are going on to another site (Alderstead Heath Caravan Club site) in order to meet up with our daughter who lives in the area. This turns it into a long weekend making the main part of the journey worthwhile This also enables us to visit the Wisley RHS garden en route between sites on the Friday. We always try to use the "travelling" day to visit somewhere so that no part of the time away is wasted. I don't know whether anyone else on here is going to the Freeborn Losely Park meet or whether we will be the sole Forum representative.

Hi Barry We are ex-Freeborn customers but I don't think we've been invited, unless we threw the invite away thinking it was junk mail. Having said that we wouldn't be able to make it anyway. If you are the sole forum representatives I hope you behave yourself and don't bring the good name of the forum into disrepute. ;D Have fun and give our regards to Brian Bailey and the rest of the Romahome crew. Hi All
Quote from the Romaclub mag
"Following on from the R40 in 2007 and the Rl0 in 2008, 2009 sees the introduction of the brand new R25 a bigger and better replacement for the R20 Outlook, which will cease production when the stocks run out, probably around October this year. The R20 Hylo will continue until 2010.
The R25 will incorporate a greater payload and more Romahome innovation and will be available to preview exclusively in September at our own VlP prelaunch event. By invitation only to Romaclub members we will host a 2 day event to introduce the R25. Simply contact Romahome with your name and address for more information and your VIP guest Iist invite." So if you want an invite, ring the factory, interesting that the R20 Hylo will continue

I was at the Shepton Mallet show this weekend and spoke to Ant and Freeborn. My understanding is that he bike rack will be integral. Also that the front seats will form part of the bed area... (not sure about that like the Outlook beds). It was actually a pleasant end to a rather unpleasant Friday where I gave the worst interview performance of my entire life!

Hi All, We dont want to spoil the exitement for you when you see the R25 for the first time, but as there is so much interes, we thought we should at least answer a few questions in advance. The R25 is a GRP monocoque one-piece body that is about 9" longer than the R20, a little wider and with standing space throughout. The two front seats form part of the beds, as they simply fold down flat to help make two long single beds or you can infill to make a capacious double. With the two front seats in their normal position, you are left with two five foot facing settees for lounging or dining. These convert into two forward-facing, fully belted seats for passengers, so you can carry four people safely and in comfort. By utilising the front seats, we have more space in the rear for a bigger galley, more storage and a very clever loo/shower. On the outside, we have an optional gas BBQ point and the best designed bike rack I have ever seen, which pulls out for easy access into the van. We have also found a nice home for the spare wheel under a hinged bumper. We have six new trims with funky names and there should be something to suit the tastes of all. Clearly, the R25 has a fixed high roof, but the the good news is that we are maintaining production of both existing R20 models. We hope this has wetted your appetites and we look forward to seeing the reaction at the preview and Launch at the NEC in October.
Brian B.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Loseley Park, very well fed and 'wined' by the owner and staff of Freeborn . We had a river cruise, trips to Guildford, a tour of the house and the run of the beautiful grounds. Breakfasts and BBQ with Square dancing and music provided by a very lively band.
Met some lovely people and particularly nice to meet sotontraveller who posts on here. Soton and I danced nearly all the dances with our cowboy hats and checked shirts, apart from when we were quaffing the never ending glasses of champagne!!
Most importantly, the new van was unveiled, it is beautifully designed and has certainly given us food for thought.
After another batch of croissants and coffee we bid farewell and thanks and arrived home this afternoon, we have never seen so many Romahomes in one place and some very individually decorated ones at that!
