Hello to every one,I recently purchased a hytop and i want to re-carpet the walls and roof lining.the lining is white and is looking rather grubby and the roof lining has water stains around the two skylights.Has anybody done this job before?The panels appear to be screwed on,and the roof seems to overlap the side panels.Is there a sequence to the removal of these panels,and could the sky lights be sealed from the inside?Could any problems arise from removing these panels.Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks,Brian.

Brian.
Quite a big job ahead! Centre panel down first, pelmets off, side windows out ( you can get the the side panels out with windows in but much easier to get them back in with windows out), side panels off. When replacing the poly prop' trim be sure to keep the material thickness the same otherwise the window rubbers will be a pig to refit.
Try using " Vanish foam" to clean and a beard trimmer to remove the furry bits!

Hi ant,I have managed to re-carpet the luton section and it looks good.I used a blue carpet lining and had no problems.I have just removed the centre panel after taking out the inner section of the skylights(board around the middle skylight very wet)must seal outside.I have just ran into a problem with the top side panels.These are pop riveted in,all the other panels are screwed in.do you know how much gap is between these panels and the outer skin?Can i drill them out and replace with screws?Should i try to line the panels in situ or will that be too difficult.I look forward to any advice you can give me.Thanks, Brian.

I would carefully drill out the rivets and replace with rivets, there is a bit of a thickness to the roof there but not really enough to rely on a small screw to hold. The thin inner GRP layer is backed by the insulation layer which doesn't have much substance for a screw to grip.

Hi Ant,i drilled out the rivets and got the panel off.I see what you mean about not much screw grip.I haven't got a rivet tool and haven't any experience using one,so when i put the panel back i may use short 8mm screws with a bit of"no more nails".It should hold because the panel is very light and the centre panel also supports it.I have also removed the n/s side panel.It came out easier than i thought it would without removing the window.It will probably be more difficult to get it back in though.I had a quick look under the white plastic trim to see how the window was held in and was quite suprised that they had used nails instead of screws.Anyway i'll cover the panels tomorrow and let you know how i got on.Brian
