Hi Nibbles Congratulations I think you are our youngest member, unless anyone knows different. Anyway regarding insurance we have been using MCIA for years now, we've found them really good and when you phone you speak to a person, not a recorded message. Here is the link: MCIARegards Graham

Hi Nibbles. Sadly most insurance companies will only cover over 25 year olds for a Motorhome. If your Romahome has been registered as a Motor Caravan on its log book you'll have to just try them all until one agrees to insure you, if however its registered as a " Car derived van" it comes under the Light goods catagory and can be insured as such. Good Luck Ant

Let us know how you get on. Mines insured through Adrian Flux - their quote line is 08700 777888 www.adrianflux.co.ukIf you can't get insurance from anyone until you're 25, you might need to get someone over 25 to insure it and name you as an additional driver - if that can still be done!

Have you tried getting quotes through either of the main clubs?
(Caravan Club, Camping and Caravan Club)
or try the adverts in the Motor Caravan magazines (browse for free in W H Smith)

hi, not sure if you've already sort something but if not, i insured through campton brokers (01883 742460). my romahome is a demountable one and i struggled to find someone to insure it both mounted and dismounted. Adrian flux advised me to 'snap their hand off!' when i called for them quote and told them what qoute i'd already had!

Hi there, I hate to burst you bubble, but im a 20 year old Romahome owner, lol . Looks like the bug is catching onto the youth even more. Anyway since i have had to get insurance myself, i thought i might be able to share my advice with you, that is of course if you havent already got it. I don't think you've said what camper you have, but i know for sure that the reason you might be getting extortionate quotes is because they see the camper as simply a modified van. This is true for many of the older ones. After getting many sky high quotes like yourself, i was recommended a company called Herts Insurance (www.hertsinsurance.com) They specialize in classic and modified policies. Because this broker deals with the insurance company direct, (in my case Highway insurers) they can go and get you a tailoured quote specific for your needs. For me insuraning an 1988 Honda Acty Dismountable Romahome, was around £500 third party fire and theft. As part of this policy they also included £2000 worth of content cover, which i thought was excellant. They also told me to expect the quote to drop substantially in the next few years or so. I hope this might help. Maybe we should be setting up a Younf Campervans owners club??!! lol
