Graham, You and me both with the piggybank.....! I showed Kris the pictures and I have a nasty feeling that stars in eyes was the reaction Thank god that refitting the bathroom and kitchen are already planned in or I think the house refurb budget would be severely under threat!! Tim

Well, it looks very nice and the price seems about right, BUT - it wouldn't fit in our garage. Having already modified the doors to get the HyLo in I don't fancy a complete rebuild, so Hilary said we'll stick with what wev'e got. I always do as I am told (ha ha). Wouldn't it be nice if one of our enterprising members bought one and brought it to the Spring meet and we call all inspect it. Any offers?

Yes, I know what you mean Malcolm ;D Wouldn't it be nice if one of our enterprising members bought one and brought it to the Spring meet and we call all inspect it. Any offers? Now that's a good idea, but I doubt whether they would get delivery in time, apparently they had 17 orders on the first day, so I think Romahome are going to be quite busy and prospective owners may have to wait a little while, we will have to organise another meet later in the year and then the lucky owner could come and show off their new toy. Well its good to see such interest in the new R40, it certainly went down well at the show with both the buying public and the press and they will all be testing it in the next 2 months so you'll see how it fairs out on the road. I hope to have my first stock vehicle end of March begining of April. I hope Romahome update thier website soon as I'll try to with mine, in the mean time I've got a lot of work to catch up on thats been ganging up on me while I've been away. Ant

Never mind - time to knuckle down to work now - with the next break to look forward to - Christmas Day !! ;D Mike

I'd like a piccie of the bathroom and one of the access from cab to van, if it's no trouble Pauline, the washroom is about the same size as the Dimension one with a bench-type cassette toilet across the back (parallel to the back doors) and it has a tip-up washbasin above. The floor is a shower tray and I can't remember much else about it.

Seriously though, I hope Romahome have done their market research. Although they may have taken orders at the launch, they do seem to be encroaching into a market area already covered by the larger producers. Reading the magazines, I gain the impression that there is already a lot of competition out there with this size of van.
I would hate to see the investment that undoubtedly has been put into tooling up etc for the new product not being recouped by on-going sales once the initial enthusiasm has been satisfied.

It's certainly long, probably a bit too long for the urban MPV market that the MD was suggesting. But it does have three big pluses, the first being the width, even narrower than the latest batch of panel vans, including the Dimension, smashing for those narrow country lanes and single track roads.
Secondly those six seats. Looking for a panel van conversion with four, 3 point belted seats is hard enough ,(whoever heard of a modern car with only 3 seats?), but a lot of motorhome buyers have children or grandchildren and need those proper seats. The extra two seats are a bonus in that sense, but could come into their own for the school run.
Looking round the Show I came accross several vans costing £10 to£20 grand more where handles were falling off, catches had packed up, and one £50 grand model where the whole wall of the bathroom moved! The R40 was not only excellent on the outside moulding but everything inside was solid and showing no sign of 'show abuse'.
Having said all that it is still probably too long for my use as a single vehicle as I travel around urban areas a lot in my work - back to the Dimension I think.

The length at 5.9 metres seems to be causing some concern. I wonder what the official length of local authority car park spaces is?
Go over the lines and expect a fine.
Anybody know?

Anybody know? 4.8m long by 2.4m wide is recommended but not mandatory. Some local authorities allow you to use two spaces if you buy two tickets.

Final NEC total was 22 orders placed for the R40. Obviously a bit of pent up demand for a 4 berth. Hope it continues for Romahome's sake. easier.decenturl.com/r40-necGood publicity too for Romahome being adjudged the best motorhome manufacturer by a magazine. Of course we all knew that already!

'Spose that's obvious really ... after all, you have got me ;D I recall the comment attributed to Groucho Marx - "I would not want to belong to any club that had me as a member" Perhaps we ought to have a sanity clause for members to sign. (But, like Chico would say to Groucho: "You can't a fool me there ain't no sanity clause" ;D)

That's good news as I was composing a letter to Brian Bailey. Might as well go straight to the top, but hopefully no need now. You deserve a prize for advertising Romahomes so well via the forum and website.
