Hi Derek,
I started by jambing the pole into the ground but found that with the movement of the pole in the wind and the pull of the guy lines the pole sank into the ground making the lines loose, so I put a piece of wood , about 4inches square and 15 mm thick, under the pole and it stopped it sinking into the ground. So when I wanted to make the pole vertical I would tap the wood with my foot, but the pole stayed where it was and the wood moved, so I fixed a small bottle top to the wood that just fitted into the base of the pole and they now all move together.
With this rig I haven't found that its unstable, even in a fairly strong wind, but I do check the lines daily.
Hope this helps, if I haven't made it clear just ask me and I will try to clarify. Martin

I have managed to get a brochure of Vision Plus aerials today from Davan Caravans, at Weston-super-Mare, and have scanned the relevent page - if you're still looking for one, have a look here:- img78.imageshack.us/my.php?image=visionplusik1.jpgI did promise a report on the square unusual one I bought from Shepton, but due to changing the van, haven't actually tried it mobile yet - however, I did try it on my house set - with it standing on a chair in the lounge, about 25 miles from the transmitter, the digital picture was indistinguishable in quality from my roof aerial - however, the analogue one did display some ghosting, but was still watchable. Size-wise, it measures 27" x 15", and is about 5" deep - not small, but could be hung across under the roof when not in use. I will now fit my drop-down lcd television in the Bongo, ready for next season - glad I didn't get around to drilling holes in the Hylo - obviously, sometimes it pays to just think about the job rather than get on and do it!! ;D Mike

Hi everyone, Sorry I have been rather quiet recently, work has been busy and this is my first week off since getting the van. Well I was supposed to be going away but commitments to birthday meals and such like mean that I could only have made one night so decided to spend the week doing more useful things! So far I have fitted the DVD/TV unit that you can see in the pics. Very compact when closed and I have pressed my (rather dodgy) sewing skills in to action to make a cover for it so would be 'owners' don't know what it is when they look through the windows. You can se the cover to the left of the stool in the picture - it looks better in place! Once that was done I set about fitting an alarm, as the base vehicle only comes with an immobiliser. I sourced a Toad alarm, one of the best on the market, at a trade price of £109. That was the easy bit I discovered!! I used to fit alarms in a previous job so it was not a daunting task till I found out that everything, and I mean everything, goes through the vehicle systems interface (essentially a computer). That made wiring into the indicators a more difficult job than expected and the central locking was a complete no-no. Not a major problem as I would have to have the key and the alarm fob on the key ring anyway. With the alarm all fitted and settled down I decided to attack the fitting of a second 240V socket, as I feel that even in a small van a second socket is more than just useful. So now there is a socket at the back and one at the front of the passenger side sofa. Wow I think I need to go back to work for a rest!! Roll on the end of March and the break away in Devizes. Tim

Very neat installation, Tim - it looks good. I have a similar unit, just a tv, ready to go into the Bongo, as is a Waeco cruise control - but I think I will wait till the weather is a bit more settled. Looking forward to seeing you and your new Baby in March - will you be charging for guided tours? Mike

Looking forward to seeing you and your new Baby in March Mike Ohhhhh you got me all excited then, my first thought was a real new baby - all cute, warm and cuddly that we could pass round at the meet and coo over. Not a metalic, deisel gulping one!
