Hi Mike I like surfing to music but I use iTunes, (you can download it free) put your own favourite music on there (from CD or download from the net), put it into different playlists to reflect you mood etc. Then if you are lucky like us and have a loving son who buys you an ipod for Christmas you can put the tunes on to your ipod and hey presto music anywhere anytime. My idea of bliss? Playing my collection of Rolling Stones one after the other, it takes hours. Graham

Hi Graham I remember the Stones well, I had tea with them all in the 60s when my friend and I were the only other customers in the local theatre restaurant and they asked if we would like to join them for afternoon tea along with a few other world renowned (now) singers who were all having a break in rehearsals.
All very civilised and polite and very friendly and the treat was on them.

It's hard to imagine Mick and Keith having afternoon tea with a china cup and saucer, their little fingers crooked as they gently lift their cups to their lips. ;D They are doing a gig in Paris whilst we are on holiday in France, unfortunately we will be in the Vendee a bit too far to nip and see them for the day. I have seen them live three times and it was certainly a spectacle to remember. Graham

Hi Graham I did get all their autographs in my little red Woollies autograph book, all with 'best wishes' to me. I also had Dusty, Roy Orbison, the Kinks, PJ Proby, Freddie and the Dreamers, Heinz, Gerry and the Pacemakers, All the Who, when they were the High Numbers (who also signed my petition to get the Rolling Stones on the London Palladium) and who asked me to do one for them!!! I also had Screaming Lord Sutch, Cilla Black, Roger Daltrey, Georgie Fame, The Four Pennies - who my friend's Dad managed, Wayne Fontana, Swinging Blue Jeans, Joe Brown, Manfred Mann, probably more, these were all in the same little book - what the heck did my Mum do with it when I left home, somehow she managed to keep my school books but not that !!! I think it would be worth a fortune now you are right. How about that for namedropping by the way!!!!!! I have to add that the Stones really did just drink tea and were 'stone' cold sober, it was a very sedate afternoon, not what I understand goes on now with the groupie scene!!!!!!!! My friend and I always managed to get back stage at the local cinema when these shows were on and in those days the stars used to come outside afterwards as well and meet the fans. Oh happy days! Viv

Hi Viv
It certainly sounds as if you got to see a few stars, what memories eh? And isn't that typical of Mum's they keep your school books but throw away your autograph book, what a shame.
The only claim to fame I can manage is once talking to Arthur Askey at Southsea, he was a lovely chap, I bet you're going to say you're to young to remember him ;D
Anybody else met someone famous?
Graham

Sue and I were strolling around the harbour at West Bay years ago, and spotted Anthony Quayle, the film star, walking towards us - we were so amazed we just gawped "Hello" - he replied, and walked on - smiling.

I bumped into George Brown (Labour politician, often 'tired and emotional') at a motorway services many years ago. Also chatted to Roy Hattersley at Manchester airport - he was interested in the fact that 20 of us were checking in bikes!

I went to school with Reg Dwight better known as Elton John but all I remember about his music was an impromptu concert in a packed out music room one Christmas. A couple of years ago we were sitting having a meal in a nice little restaurent in the north of Mallorca when Rod Stuart and party came in and sat at the next table. Everyone just pretended he was an ordinary customer apart from the odd nudge & wisper.

We were on holiday in Lindos (Island of Rhodes) and kept seeing Spike Milligan, children and nanny. We would have liked to speak to them but decided to respect their privacy, as did others.
Judy showed Maggie Thatcher to the ladies loo once.

Thats what Judy said later At the time MT was Education Minister I think Yes I remember her stopping free milk for children at school, "Thatcher the Milk Snatcher" she was called in the press, that ought to have warned us about the future. Graham
