I am so sick of fireworks now - there doesn't seem to have been much let up since the begiining of November! I am soooo angry! There has been a decline in garden birds, which has been 'blamed' on cats, but it seems so obvious to me that if fireworks are going off practically every weekend then the birds are going to move someplace else. We used to have more cats years ago than now, for pest control more than anything, so there has to be another reason - if you ask me it's the fireworks! And it doesn't stop during the spring/ summer either, when birds are mating and bringing up their offspring, what with birthdays and weddings, and on and on..... They should be bl***dy banned!!! ARRRGGGGGHHHH!!! ok, rant over. Feel better now.

Second that, they seem to be getting louder. Small furry animals are often petrified. Present dog (Meg) is begining to get restless when she hears them. Some of my friends have grandchildren that are frightened by the noise.

Definately louder, bigger, higher, brighter, Derek! It sounds like WW2 around here some weekends. My dog isn't so bothered by them, but I find them annoying, to say the least! Esp. when I have to turn the TV up as the noise is so loud!

Fireworks!!!! and a Collie DO NOT MIX. However I give her Emergency Drops specially for dogs bought from the local health food store and this seems to calm her down - perfectly natural flower extract remedy much on the lines of Bach Flower Rescue Remedy.
Now I have recently heard (not really) from a friend that the manufacturers of fireworks can produce NOISE FREE FIREWORKS ( (I couldn't hear them cos they are noise .....) These are very beautiful to watch like normal fireworks but without the bangs etc. Has anyone heard of these? The person I spoke to went to a fireworks party where they used them. Well we learn something each day. The foxes that visit my garden most nights seem to miss those times when the fireworks are about. Birds don't seem to vary too much - keep coming down for their daily feeds!
