Hi everybody
We decided to ignore the weather forecast and took a last minute decision to go to Norfolk this weekend. We set off Friday morning and just stayed two nights. We were very suprised to have trouble getting a site which had vacancies, first of all we tried a lovely little CS which we have used before at Heacham, it is actually the old railway station which has been converted to a CS with the old waiting rooms converted to a lovely little self catering apartment.
Anyway to our disappointment this was full up, next we tried a CL behind the Queen Victoria pub in Snettisham again no joy, in the end we settled for the Camping and Caravan Club site at Sandringham which is a great site and always has room because it is so big, the downside is its a little expension at around £13 per night, but we have been before and always enjoyed it so we settled for that.
After having a walk round Hunstanton on Friday afternoon, Saturday we decided to go bird watching at Snettisham at the RSPB site. We managed to squeeze into a parking spot just outside the height barrier and had a lovely walk round seeing a wide variety of birds including: Widgeon, little grebe, great crested grebe, teal, shelducks, curlew, godwits, a group of 27 redshank!, grey lag geese, canada geese, oystercatchers, kestrel, the list goes on and on but one rareity (for us) was a little tern, we haven't to my knowledge seen one of those so we were thrilled. Unfortunately it was too quick for the camera but I did get a couple of shots one of flying canada geese and a godwit prodding around in the mud for his dinner. Click on the pics for a bigger image
The day was lovely in spite of the weather forecast (do they ever get it right?) and we had a lovely time.
