Hi everyone
We are busy trying to plan our Summer Hols and have been looking at Ile d'Oleron in France, we just wondered if anyone has any experience of going there.
It is joined to the mainland by a bridge but we can't find out if it is a toll bridge or not and if so how much, (some web sites say its toll free and some say its toll) so we need to know from someone who has been and any other info on the island would be gratefully received.
Cheers Graham

We have never been there, but have an article from 'Which Motorcaravan' July 2005 which states:
"At last we come to the Isle d'Oleron, which is well signed and accessed via an extremely impressive toll-free bridge. It is, in fact, the longest bridge in France, messuring almost two miles, and has 45 rectangular piles holding the road 75ft above the highest of the high tides."
Our 2005 French road atlas also indicates toll-free for that bridge.

Thanks Wendy
Most of the web sites we have found say its toll free but a couple said you pay a toll but perhaps that was a few years ago and now its toll free.
If we like the site we would probably stop there for a least a week so we don't want to have to pay a toll every time we venture off the island.
