I walk two and sometimes three children up to school as part of my childminding duties. I am sick and tired of having to steer the kids round dog poo that has been left on the pavement by irresponsible dog owners, why don't these people put it in plastic bags and then in the dog poo bin of which there are several on the route to school. Then there are the dog owners who go to all the trouble of putting the poo in a plastic bag and then hang it in a tree or just throw it to the side as they walk along!! What's that all about? They've done the hard part by bagging it, all they've got to do is pop it in the dog poo bin or at worse take it home with them. I wish I could catch them at it I would give them a piece of my mind and then give them the kids shoes to clean. I suspect they do the dirty deed at night under the cover of darkness. Rant over, I'm going for a lie down now.

You and our David should join forces, as someone allows their dog to use his front garden as the poo loo!! open planned gardens!!! he is refusing to cut his grass because of it!

I can't understand it either... but I've noticed it's mostly MEN who don't clean up after their dogs! Perhaps they don't have to clean the shoes.... And they're tickle-stomached Quite a lot of dog owners around here put their picked up poo to one side if they are coming back the same way and pick up and dispose of on the way back. I've done that sometimes. More often than not (especially now I live near a school and also know how disgusting it is for parents) I sometimes pick up other dog poo as well as my own! There's somebody around here who dumps and runs at night.

( Hey, JayJay thats sexist ;D, I reckon its more of a younger generation thing, I've noticed old ladies with arthritis struggling to stoop down and pick it up but I bet young fit people can't be bothered. As for you picking up other peoples, that is beyond the call of duty. Graham

I suppose that having lived out of town for the past 20 odd years, I don't encounter this very much, and I'd got the impression that this was a problem that had very much reduced in the past couple of decades. Looks like I'm wrong.
I always think that this is much more of a problem in France although I noticed this year that free poo collection bags were provided in lots of places.

Doug The situation is getting better these days, Doug, it's not as bad as it was years ago, especially on the pavements... And most councils have now provided more bins, so more ppl are encouraged to pick up. In Scotland, the Highland Council provide free dog bags as well - you just pick em up from the town halls. ;D

I agree it is better than a few years ago, I think I am just noticing it more with having to take children backwards and forwards to school3 or 4 times a day, whereas when I was working I just jumped in the car and drove to work so didn't notice.
On the same subject, what happened to white dog poo we used to see years ago?

On the same subject, what happened to white dog poo we used to see years ago? Hi Graham, I was told that it was due to them being fed a lot of bones because people could not afford proper dog food after the war. I dont know if this is correct but it does sound feasible.

White dog poo? Wouldn't that mean the donor dog was an albino? Mike

Hiya Graham.Thought I would add my comments on the subject but my rant is horse poo! The police in Colchester have started to use horses to control the rowdy idiots who invade the town at night but they dont clean up after them. As my job involves walking the streets, (sound good dont it? ) I get very cross like you do with dog poo, having to side step great big piles of horse poo. In the old days it wouldnt have stayed there long, it would have been taken very quickly to someones garden but not anymore. Can you imagine the size of bag you would need to carry it and the size of horse poo bin to put it in?

It can't be very pleasant, horses certainly make bigger piles than dogs.
Although they say its good to put on rhubarb, personally I prefer custard. ;D

I complain about riders not picking up their horses' poo when they are riding along forest paths used by ramblers, but I'm told horse poo is ok because they are vegetarian. I have vegetarian friends but they don't leave their poo lying about for folk to step in.
