Hi gang - seems like the Speedferries operation from Dover to Boulogne has folded. www.speedferries.com/Apparently the French impounded Speed One last week in Boulogne due to unpaid Port charges. Seems they have been struggling for a while - there was supposed to be a second ferry introduced, but that never materialised, and the bookings for it had to be transferred to the existing ship. Whilst the Speedferry operation had exclusive use of the Boulogne Port, seems a rival, LD ferries, is starting a Dover to Boulogne service next July. A great shame, really - whether or not you liked the Speedferries operation, the fact is he caused the dramatical reduction in prices to cross the Channel. Mike

That's not ferry good news for the customer. We used LD Line last for our summer hols this year (Newhaven to Le Havre) and they were very good price wise but as you say the loss of Speedferries will cut the competition and prices will probably rise as a result. Graham
