There's a Hylo on eBay at the moment which appears to have some kind of pull-down blind on the rear door windows. I've not seen these before and I wondered if anyone recognises them. Are they retro-fit, perhaps obtainable from an accessory supplier, or are they a standard Roma fitting which might be obtained from them? Also, on the subject of window blinds, has anyone any ideas for fitting a blind over the skylight? I know that it is tinted but I'd like it darker still, and there's the insulation value too. It wouldn't be very difficult to cut some suitable material to size, but how to fit it?

Hi Paul
Yes I recognize them, I have them fitted to my van, I think they are a retro-fit and may have come from romahome, they were fitted by the previous owner so I cant tell you any more.
I have them fitted to the side windows also, and they have fly screens fitted as well.
I find them very good so would recommend them.

Hi Paul, I have a 2003 Hylo from new. Mine is fitted with the top blind, but has a velcro fit curtain on the lower window. The side windows are also fitted with these blinds, as standard. All the best Al.

Hi Paul, Our Romahome has those blinds on the back door, and from looking through all the paperwork that came with our van, they were purchased separately from Island plastics, for not very much money.

Thank you for that information. I rang Island Plastics and they said that they no longer fit these blinds so they don't keep them in stock. I then asked if they knew who used to make them and he said that he thought they were made in Italy by Sykes (he even spelled this name out to me). I think he meant Seitz who are a big maker of windows and blinds for campers caravans, boats etc. The smallest Seitz I have yet been able to find from an accessory shop is way too big. They are mostly made to fit the main windows, and usually with fly-screens integrated as well - which is useless on a non-opening window.

We made a cover for the sky-light out of silver underlay for laminate flooring, backed with black fablon. It was cut to the same shape as the window and just wedged in as it was very thin and flexible. It made such a difference in the high summer with very long days! We've just sold our hylo with the little gadget, so shame we didn't take a photo first!
