I have just noticed that Pauline, Wendy and I are logged on together. Very often I am alone or just me and one unnamed guest. So good morning to you. I really must get off now and get ready to go out. the trouble is that time just flies when you are having fun and all of a sudden it can be 11 before I am even dressed - what a slob. I must make the effort discipline myself into this new retirement lark. But like a diet I keep putting it off!!!!!!!!!!! Viv

Good morning Viv, (well actually it's afternoon now because I've only just seen your post!! ) Evening seems a good time to be found on line with others. Last night there were 4 members and 3 guests all on at the same time! Wonder if we will ever get into the 100's ;D I know what you mean about time flying - I get up early but still don't have enough hours in the day!

Oh dear I was sitting playing patience on my laptop and it was 9.00am and then suddenly it was 10am and i was not even dressed and I had an appointment at 11, I really must get myself organised. From tomorrow I am going to reinstate the newspaper delivery so I have something to read when I get up and this will stop me going into the internet for the news which always leads on to me getting engrossed in something or other.

Hi Viv,
Dont worry about no routine, that is what retirement is ALL about, no clocks to watch, sometimes I am a real slob and still not dressed at 2pm, I have recently started to get up early again but I think 8am is soon enough after years of it being 6am, now into my 2nd year of retirement, and I do what my body wants to do. there is another day, if not, why bother.
I do get efficient sometimes like last Sunday started painting my bedroom, decided it required a new carpet, all done and dusted by Thursday, now decided to tackle the rest of the house, if I keep it up fine if not, well do it when I feel like it.

I second all of that. ;D It is easier to get up earlier in the summer, but once the clocks go back and it's dark in the mornings I have been known to sleep until 10.00!!!!!

You enjoy yourself Viv! I'm sure I'm right in thinking that you have children, well just remember those days when you were up all hours of the night and those early mornings!!! All those hours doing the job of teacher/carer/nursemaid/ (to name a few!) Oh those early mornings!!! - Our eldest was quite happy to get up at 6 am (just as Graham left for work!) and demand his 'meetamix' (weetabix)! and in those days there was no early morning TV, just a radio for company. The hours seemed endless until it was time to get out to the shops and hopefully meet another adult for a chat!! How different it would have been with 24 hour TV and a laptop for company!! It's pay back time now - time to put your feet up and not feel guilty! Plus don't forget that playing patience is good for your mental agility, keeps old age at bay, so you are only doing it for the good of your health

Thanks folks I am actually not sure I will get used to it ever but I will try and relax into it. It is the people I miss most as most of my friends are still at work. Anyway I have a sorted out a little part time self employed job that I can do in my own time, I am sure that next Spring when this job starts to clash with my little trips, I will realise just what my priorities are.!!!!!!! See you all soon. Viv

That was one of the reasons why I left work as I couldn't fit all the holidays in. (John took early retirement before me)

It's my third year now (of early retirement) and it's great! I feel really sorry for those people who don't look forward to retirement because they don't know how they're going to fill their time! I relate to whoever it was, when asked how he passed the time, that said, "Sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits!" ;D ;D ;D The wonderful thing about being retired is being able to do exactly what you want, when you want. And if that is doing nothing then fine. As I say in my signature "Retirement is a full time job!" I've never been busier. Audrey

I wish you lot would stop talking about retirement you are making me really jealous ;D
11 years and counting! Unless they make me an offer I can't refuse to get rid of me before then.
Graham (at work and fed up)
