We've just had our copy of the Roma Club magazine and after reading it from cover to cover we can't find any mention of the AGM or rally that caused such a fuss earlier in the year. Not even a tiny little apology to Antoinette for any distress she may have been caused. If you have a copy can you find a mention? Have we missed it? It was said on the Club message board that it should be discussed in the members section but there is nothing on there either. Is it all to be swept under the carpet never to be mentioned again?

You are right Pauline. I have read it from cover to cover as well and no mention of it. I also checked on the member forum as well and again nothing. In fact the member's only forum doesn't seem to be used much does it? The committee must know that other members had enquired about it and by not making any comment at all it makes me feel as if in their eyes it is only their opinion that counts for anything. Oh well as it says in the magazine if you haven't paid your renewal it will be the last one sent to you. That's me off the list then!

I couldn't find any mention of the AGM anywhere, although knowing their track record, I didn't expect to. ;D Maybe Antoinette has carried out her threat and is sueing them. If so, good luck to her.

Hi, I too have read my magazine, and no mention whatsoever. But have you noticed how many vacancies there are for area co-ordinators! I think if is a shame when ppl have been members for years and due to physical needs the Romahome is no longer a suitable vehicle, and you have to leave the club. I think that this club is dying, it was really good a couple of years ago, but since this chairman - downhill and fast.
Most of the meets are in the South, very rarely due they come north, except for Bobbington with Ted Beach.

Hello everyone, I am Antoinette and overwhelmed by the concern people have shown me visa vi how the Committee of the Romahome club (specifically George Marsden, the president) treated me at the AGM last year. You are absolutely right, I never received a refund on my membership, an apology, or even the Roma Magazine, I was scratched off and forgotten. The only mention in the magazine requested people to ensure I had not cashed their £9 deposit cheques 9 members had forward to me and which had been shredded through a cross cut shredder (Barbara being fully aware that this had happened). I did actually pop along to see some of my friends at the rally at MERLEY and although Barbara said "hello" in passing I am sure a few people had a surprise I actually showed my face there. I joined the Motorcaravanners Club (www.motorcaravannersclub.org.uk) and think it is wonderful, they are friendly and they don't care what camper you have and hold lots of rallies all over the country AND provide a wonderful GLOSSY magazine on a monthly basis. As you may understand I wont be re joining the ROMAHOME CLUB as the owner of Romahome said at the Stratford show - its simply run by the committee for the committee and not the members. I had thought of suing them but cant be bothered with people who are so petty. Half of them never even appear at Rally's and the Chairman Georgy boy ONLY goes to the AGM and nothing else! Have to admire the routine they have for being re elected, happens so fast non of the members know what is happening. Also they are unaware of the huge amount of money the committee hold (especially when they just increased the membership from £10 to £12.50. I love my Romahome Duo and at the moment have an Autosleeper Legend and will soon have to decide which one will be going as I hope to be camping with a lady friend and perhaps the duo wont give enough privacy. I would love some feedback re the Harrison Awning as I am concerned at using it in wet weather (living in a flat little room to dry things off) ? With the awning it does make like much easier but little help when its cold and raining. Love this website and love all the tips and hints. Good luck to those of you who have joined the Romahome club, make sure you go to the AGM next year and hopefully a few questions MAY be asked of the Chairman?? But don't wait too long for answers. All the best to you all - Antoinette Khodabandeh (PS sorry about spelling and typo errors.

Good to see you back here, Antoinette, and thanks for your explanations of what's happening - as much as anyone is allowed to know!
A few of us on here will not be re-joining the Roma Club this year. We had a long talk with the Motor Caravanners Club at the NEC today and they sound very nice - so maybe we'll give them a try sometime.

Hi all What a sorry state of affairs when something which should be fun goes sour. I cannot comment on the other club but I am glad i found this one and thanks Antoinette for letting us know the outcome of the problem you encountered. I hope you continue to have fun with the Motor caravanners Club and to hear from you on here in the future. Camping is fun after all Viv
