Hi folks - cheekie chappie here! ;D Well, we picked up our super duper shiny Bongo yesterday, amidst the typhoons! It rained all the way to Poole - then within 20mins the sun came out - obviously to shine on the righteous!! It really is a little gem - spent most of today fettling and polishing, mainly around the doors - tomorrow I'll wash and polish the outside. Here's a pic I took last week, before it had been valeted :- Sorry it isn't a very good one - the van was parked in a line of Bongo's ( Bongii )? so I couldn't get any decent shots of it. Will take some more tomorrow when it's gleaming even more!! Mike

Hi Mike, Bet you are really chuffed now you have got it. When you put your photos on tomorrow can you make them a bit smaller. My computer screen needs to double in size to see this one! Your poor Romahome is going to feel left out now.

Looks great Mike, I saw one at a local garage last Saturday and was very impressed. It was a 1995, 4WD, manual change. The dealer said they were normally auto. What is yours, 4WD auto perhaps? Which rear seats have you? The one I saw had ones that folded sideways. Get polishing, then ENJOY Derek

Mike, I don't really like interferring with other people posts but I've taken the liberty of reducing the size for you. It makes it easier for us all to see and enjoy.

Great stuff Pauline. I can see Mike's photo properly now. Have you given the "cheeky chappie" his slap yet? Anyway Mike now that I have seen your photo properly now, it does look lovely and I am sure you will have fun in it. I wish we could make it to the meet and then could have had a good look. Hopefully you will all take some piccies for those of us who can't make it.

Thanks folks for all your nice comments - and especially to Pauline for correcting my oversized picture. So busy today fitting a new radio, cleaning and polishing, that I ran out of time to take any pics!! I definately will - maybe tomorrow if it's fine. If we do bring it to the Meet I'll need to get some mains sorted, else we won't be able to have a brew or a meal!! I managed to get a "portable" 42litre fridge off eBay at Weston last week - but until I sort out a leisure battery, etc I daren't use it, or you may all need to give me a push on the Sunday - oh, forgot, it's an auto box, so that wouldn't work!! Are we stark, raving mad to be going camping at the end of October, I ask myself!! Must remember to pack the fan heater and thermals, as, unlike the Romahome, this one isn't insulated - another job to add to the list! To kill two birds with one stone, we plan to camp somewhere on the Sunday night, then go to the Bike Show at the NEC on the Monday, seeing we are nearby. Must remember NOT to buy any more bikes, though - run out of room with 11 already!! Really looking forward to being able to put a face to a name. I'll be the old geezer with a black eye!!!!! ;D Mike

Decided to do a service taoday, as the weather was nice. Drained the engine oil, no trouble, into an old car boot liner - flexible - but large enough. Changed the filter as well whilst the sump was draining, needed a filter wrench on it, but no trouble. Trouble came when I decided I needed to empty the flexible container full of dirty oil into the empty oil bottle, via a funnel. Oh dear - the flexible container flexed, spilling several litres over my leg and foot, and at the same time the bottle and filter decided to topple over, spilling the contents also. After clearing up what I could, sandle still squelching oil all over the path, I decided I needed to get up in the bath, wash off the oil, change my clothes, and jet wash the path, in case someone else trod in it, and ruined their carpet. An hour later, things were looking a lot better - however, Sue was cursing, trying to clean the bath of oil stains. Flushed with success so far, I then decided to change the fuel filter - happy to report nothing went wrong doing this job. ;D Great way to spend a day - try it!!!

Well, Wendy - today I'm fitting a tray under the bonnet to take a big leisure battery - and that involves some welding - but hopefully won't involve a 999 call!! Looking back on that oil business yesterday, it really was funny - although I wasn't amused at the time. Mike

Hi Yamaha, From reading this thread I could tell you were a clever chap but the timber extension to the roof of your Bongo as seen in your new avatar has really taken my breath away. What will you do next?
