TYRE PRESSURES ON C15 ROMA

Hi all you experts out there,

What are the correct tyre pressures for a c.1992 C15 Romahome Hi-Top.

This is a copy of an answer I gave to someone on the Roma club site

"I have a 1992 C15.
I phoned Romahome and asked them but I cant remember what they said, the figures they gave me were quite low, and I said to them they are much lower than the pressures that are on a data sticker on the van body next to the drivers door top hinge, they then said I must use the pressures that are on the data sticker as this relates to the actual vehicle.
They are:- 39 front and 65 rear.
But I run my pressures at :- 34 front and 60 rear, and I find that the van rides very good at these.
One point to note, Romahomes MUST have reinforced tyres and not ordinary car tyres, if your van has car tyres (as I have noted some people do!!!!) under NO circumstances use these high pressures that I have given you."


I have just received a comment, on the Roma site, from Jack (shedbrewer), I hope he wont mind me copying it here.


"Hi Martin, have only just seen the correspondence about tyre pressures and am amazed that you have 60psi in rear tyres.I have a 1994 C15 Romahome Hi-Top,on the data sticker on front door stay,recommended pressures are,front 36psi, rear 40psi,,,,,something strange, somewhere."


Any comments are very welcome, as we do need to know what they should be.
Could it be a different year or make of tyre that alters the pressures?

I may not be able to answer any replies yet as I am now getting ready for Chipping Norton tomorrow, will see those that are coming, next weekend.

Sorry can't answer your question re the pressure but I'm sure someone who knows will be along soon.

Re what you said above about the tyres, you are right and also, I think I'm right in saying, that it can invalidate your insurance if you don't use reinforced commerical tyres.

Yes you are VERY correct, ANY excuse and insurance companies
wont pay out.
And if the accident was your fault what then?

I do have reinforced tyres.

So why does my data plate say 39F---65R?

Hi Timhurd.
If its any help to you when I service any C15 Romahome I always put 40 psi in the front and 45 psi in the rear. The Citroen book gives pressures for a fully laden commercial van, a Romahome would bounce off every cats eye if you put 60 in the rear! You can alter the pressures to suit your load but never go below 30 in the front and 35 in the rear you'll just cause bad wear patterns on the tyres.

It was me that started the thread,and I am now wondering if the data sticker on my van could be the wrong one, IE. for a commercial van. (39F--65R)

Do Romahome put their own data sticker on? And my van didn't get one,

I reduced the pressures by 5 pound all round, and have been running at 34F--60R for the last two years and found no problems at all, but I will try the pressures you suggest and see how I get on.

Hi Martin.
Try the lower pressures you may find the ride to be quieter and the steering more pricise. At the end of the day provided you don't go too soft it all depends on your normal load and comfort levels you prefer.
