Hi, I'm not very technically adept, but is there any way I can post a picture in these forums? I hope we can! I have a bird I need help identifying and I'm sure as this forum grows I'll find someone who knows what it is. Thanks, Chris

Chris, It seems that the attachment feature is only available on the extra proboard.com options which have to be paid for (we are using a free board) However, someone has suggested using www.imageshack.us/ to host any photos so it might be worth trying that to show us your photos. Hope that helps

Thanks for looking into this. It was very easy, even for me! Here's the picture, let me know what you think. I had to use the "Thumbnail for forums (1)" text that ImageShack gave me. I'd advise people to use the preview button to check their post before submitting it, it took a little while to get right. Can anyone tell me what it is? Looks a bit like a pheasant, but I'm not sure it is Help appreciated, Chris

Glad that worked, Chris. Not sure on the bird, it's neck looks a bit long for a Grouse, hopefully an expert will come along soon!

Hi Chris I am not a twitcher but is it one of these? I used to breed quail and it looks everso quailish . Feel free to tell me if I am wrong, mine were the Japanese (I think), for egg laying. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_QuailDerek

Thanks for the reply Derek,
I'm not so sure about quail, aren't they quite small? I'd put this bird about a foot tall or even bigger (although you can't see it from the photo).
You're right though, it does look very quailish - perhaps my memory is deceiving me, I'm starting to doubt myself now.

Thanks, Pauline for e-mailing the photo to me as I can't get it to open. John (our household 'expert') thinks that it is a hen pheasant.

We'll go with hen pheasant then, probably with some tail feathers missing.
Thanks for the help!
