Hi Viv, sorry I didn't respond yesterday - I didn't realise you can see who is online at any time - and I've only just gone onto the forum again today. Haven't we been having some dreadful weather! We are itching to go off again in our new van, but not when it's as wet as it has been. Maybe later next week, if the forecasters are right. It's lovely being able to go whenever the mood (and weather) takes you! Audrey

We are off to Stourport on severn tomorrow and will go to the river carnival in town then off on Sunday to my daughter in Kingswinford near Dudley. but we are going in the car this time as my OH has a hospital appt in Birmingham on Monday - We have loads of friends up there so we enjoy going and seeing them all again. Next weekend we will return to Birmingham again to stay with daughter who lives in a canal boat, and this time we will be in the van and camping next to the boat and joining a familyparty on the canalside so we will be truly camping!!!!!!!!!!!I can't wait. On the Sunday hangover and weather permitting we may go off somewhere for a few days. ther e are loads of places to go in that part of the world. the weekend after that we have booked for a music weekend in Devizes with the Tremeloes on Friday night and Showaddywaddy on saturday. Since retiring we have become real gaddabouts!!!!!!!!! Hope you make a break away I think the weather is going to be good next week.

It's lovely being able to go whenever the mood (and weather) takes you! I really envy you retired people, we have to wait till weekends and then it usually buckets down with rain but we have got a weeks holiday coming up when we are going to see our son and family in Brighton for a few days then head of somewhere camping ( we haven't decided where yet). I've still got 11 years to go before retirement unless they find me out and get rid before then ;D

No need to rub it in that you are very young We keep trying to get away again, but 'things' keep cropping up. At least we can go at a moment's notice with the van.

That all sounds wonderful Viv, have a great time on all your trips! We sometimes go to the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Kingsbury Water Park, there is a canal very close to the site and it's lovely to see the barges moored. It looks an idylic life.

No need to rub it in that you are very young I don't know about "very young", I suppose it depends on your perspective, but I wish I was as fit as you and John with your cycling exploits.

Talking of you and John cycling, Wendy, where do you put your bikes when you are travelling around? Do you keep them inside (and how do you fasten them?) or have you got a bike rack on the back somehow?

Hallo Audrey, As the main bike packing person here I have undertaken to answer your question about packing bikes and a Dimension. With our previous vehicle(an Autosleeper Trooper) we carried our bikes on a conventional rack on the back but for a number of reasons did not find this satisfactory- particularly in making access through the back difficult. When we got the Dimension we found that if we removed the bike wheels and turned the handlebars that we could easily put them inside. To protect the seats etc. we put the bikes and wheels inside bags which we had previously used for transporting them by plane. We stand them across the van behind the drivers/passenger seats where they fit quite nicely. The only difficulty with this position is if you wish to make up the beds. They will stand side by side in the back alongside the kitchen- they stand with out fixing down but of course restrict access to the toilet . I hope this explanation is clear - I could give some more info if you wish to do this. John

Thanks John. We have mountain bikes but are very much "fair weather" bikers. Previously, on our Autosleeper Executive, we put them on a carrier on the back, and were curious as to how they could be safely carried in the Dimension. You've given us something to think about now!! ( we know we've got quick release wheels, but they haven't been released before! ) We need to look at our bikes I think. Audrey
