Looks like we are perhaps the first ones home (or the first to switch on the 'puter! ) A great time was had by all - photos and report soon. No rain, unless you count a few drops that were heard during the night by a couple of people. No one had to be towed out of the mud, although there was plenty still around. A very successful weekend, everyone was as nice, friendly and as easy to get on with as we had expected - we are all looking forward to doing it all again in the Spring. Thanks everyone for making the first Small Motohome Meet such a great success and special thanks to John sorting out the arrangements.

We're home too! Van unpacked and first load of washing in the machine. I'm not usually that quick, but the builders might be here in the morning to take the roof off the garage, which is where the machine lives. We, too had a lovely time and enjoyed meeting some fellow SMH people. Another meet in late spring was mentioned - so all who missed this one, hope that you make the next one. The sun was shining this morning and a brilliant blue sky - such a pity that we had to come home, but at least the countryside everywhere looked lovely. Sorry, martinw, that we didn't get to meet you and hope that you will make our next meet.

Hello Campers!! Well, we are also home, after our tiring day at the the NEC Bike Show. Didn't buy any more bikes - but did get a new pair of gloves!! Spent about 3 hours wandering around, and in case I didn't tell you - I don't like walking!! Sue was still as fresh as a daisy, but I was wilting, so we staggered back to the Bongo, blue skies, and hot sunshine, and made our way home - tired but happy> ;D Great weekend, and lovely to meet you all - a great success for our first meeting. Looking forward to the next one - but PLEASE make the Pub less than half a day's route march away!! Mike & Sue

Home now after THE meet to be at.
Lovely to see everyone; we really enjoyed ourselves, even though my dad's illness meant we were a day late. We were so glad we made the second night.
The things I especially enjoyed about it were (in no particular order):
Having a chance to pick brains about small motorhoming as a newcomer to this at a friendly and pretty venue where it WASN'T RAINING!
A chance to put names to faces and meet such nice folks
A brisk walk to the pub which left us feeling we'd really deserved our dinner, and a very tasty if HUGE plate of roast lamb
A romantic walk under the stars back to the van which strangely enough seemed to take far less time even though we walked much more slowly...
A couple of pints of terrifically well kept Hook Norton bitter (Well ok, three, but who is counting?)
The gorgeous sunrise on Sunday and a great natter as we did a circuit of the vans (unplanned, just spontaneous) discussing differences/preferences and how we used them
So when is the next one then? It would be lovely to meet some more of you as well as getting together with the new friends made this weekend again.
If we did one around May perhaps, we migt be lucky enough for it to be warm enough to have a bbq together for the non-pubby people. We did have a quick chat about venues and came up with a few thoughts, so maybe sometime after Christmas we can put them down and decide on a date and venue for Meet number 2.
Many thanks for arranging it all!
Cil

We went to the pub on the edge of Chipping Norton as recommended by the site warden/manager. Also the walk was flat and there was a footpath for most of the way.

No I just like to mess around down the lanes and tracks for an hour or so to get a bit of exercise and see thing you don't notice when driving. Martin

Oh what a lovely time we had, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and the relaxed way it all went and thanks to John for sorting out the arrangements and Pauline and Graham for starting the website in the first place.
It is so nice to at last be able to put names to faces and isn't it easier to remember names when you can do this.
We loved the food in the pub, excellent value and so beautifully presented, just wish I liked real ale.
Weren't we lucky with the weather we have had worse in the summer. The journey home was lovely and we went via Burford which we realised we had been to before on the way back from Bognor. We passed loads of stunning little villages and there is always something to see.
We have never been away yet when we have not had a new or unusual occurance and this was no exception, never before have we had to deal with begging cats who knock you up at midnight by knocking at the camper door nor have we seen such lovely authentic Gypsy caravans.
I was so relaxed when we got it home and I felt like I had had a much longer break.
I am even more happy that we bought the little van and you can tell that we all just love them, if they were children they would be really spoilt.
We are looking forward to the next meet and hope more can join us,
Cil I hope your problems are resolved without too much distress for your Mum and Dad.
We are off again this weekend for fireworks and bonfire with daughter in Dudley and then off to see our little William next week in Bognor. I have heard that the really cold weather is coming on Wednesday so we were certainly lucky this time.
Looking forward to the carrot cake Wendy- I don't think you would like my cakes, although you could use them as levellers or BBQ stands!!!. Take care all
Viv and Terry

Hope your Dad is on the mend.

It is so nice to at last be able to put names to faces and isn't it easier to remember names when you can do this. It is but there is a downside - because of 'Romagnome' I always imagined you and Terry with bright red hats with bells on the end and lovely rosey cheeks. I was most disappointed

Thanks everyone for making the first Small Motohome Meet such a great success and special thanks to John sorting out the arrangements. I'm so glad that everyone enjoyed it ;D It didn't take much effort from me, I just had the idea that it would be nice to have a meet and suggested a site that had the facilities we required and would be equal travelling distances for all participants. I apologise for the distance to the pub but the only other suitable site I knew of that had an adjacent pub was a bit farther for us oop north. Perhaps next time this defect will be corrected, but in the meantime can I suggest a training regime that will make the effort possible if required ;D I'm sure that Yamaha will have no trouble following this since he can walk round a motorcycle show for 3 hours

Stagger round a motorcycle show, John - loaded down with heavy brochures - hungry - thirsty - the things I have to put up with for the pursuit of pleasure!!
'Twas good, though - not too crowded - and did we sleep well that night!!!

Martin Keen doesn't necessarily mean fast and/or long distances. Like you, we like to explore unfamiliar lanes. Perhaps we should start a SMH cycling section?

Hi Campers! I only managed to take a couple of photos during the weekend, but this is the best of the two!! I just managed to stop the gang before they raced into the Pub for their 11am drinking binge - a couple were fidgeting, keen to down a few, but I thought an "after" picture wouldn't look so good!! ;D Mike

I've put the carrot cake recipe in the General Chat section. I hope that is OK, if not perhaps Pauline can move it to where it should go. I didn't put it on the web site as I don't think that it's one that you would be tempted to make in the van.
