Since the Forum seems to be full of silly posts about trolls and babies on wheels I thought that I would take the opportunity to start, hopefully, what will be a more productive thread. We( Yamaha) already have the November 2007 meet at Bridgwater "sorted" and now I think we should try and get some detail into the popular idea of one in the Spring. DATE Looking at my blank 2007 year planner I see that Easter is on the weekend of 7-9th April. I am therefore proposing that we have our Meet the weekend before - namely 30/31 Mar & 1st April. I know that some of you might think that this is a bit early but British Summertime starts the weekend before so the weather is bound to be OK. I hope that this date will avoid a lot of holiday engagements that people might have later( I should add that it would be convenient for us as we should be returning on our way north from Cornwall.) PLACE In line with a lot of discussions we have had(see earlier threads in this section) my proposal is for the Camping & Caravanning Club Site at Devizes, Wiltshire. I hope that all interested parties will post their thoughts on this proposal. In addition to the above suggestion I would like to propose that we discuss the options for a third meet to be held sometime, somewhere between the date of my first suggestion, above and the “sorted” one at Bridgwater in November I really don’t want to “hog” this area and have no suggestions to make. I just feel that between us all we have the enthusiasm to have something in the big gap between April & November. Again , I look forward to reading your posts to expand/comment on this ;D

Hi John, This sounds like a great idea. Funnily enough the site is one that we said we wanted to try to get to next year. It is the one with The Three Magpies pub at the end of the lane isn't it and by the canal? I am just going to print off your post and show Roger to see whether he thinks we can make those dates. He is self employed so it can be awkward sometimes. Hopefully we can make it this time. You are right lets get back to thinking about the best things in life - mainly getting away in our vans for great weekends away etc.

Moya said "It is the one with The Three Magpies pub at the end of the lane isn't it and by the canal?" Mike says " I do hope it's a very short lane" !!! Sounds like a good idea to me - wonder if I could get to the Pub by narrowboat? Mike

I'd love to come too, please, and suggest a walk along the Kennet and Avon Canal up the Caen Lock Ladder for anyone interested to Devizes, home of 6x beer and a good Saturday market. If you have a thing for industrial architecture, wild life or boats, you'll love it.
The Three Magpies is right by the site and does good food. There's a great car boot sale in Seend, very nearby, on Sunday mornings if that's your thing.

Devizes sounds like a great idea to me. I have heard some good comments about the site and Easter should be good for the calendar too. Look forward to being able to join you all this time, van delivery permitting!!

Oh I am so disappointed The Easter weekend is the only one in the year where Roger has the Friday and Saturday off work and because you are going the weekend before he can't afford to have time off then as well. Unfortunately because he is self employed it makes it a bit more difficult financially for us. Might have a think and see if there is any way we could get there late on the Saturday night and at least we could say hello to you all. If we managed to do that we would then leave Monday afternoon. Our weekends are different to most people as Roger has Mondays off but he has to work all day Saturday, which is his busiest day. Will start trying to work it out. It sounds such a nice site as well from what Cil has said in her post.

Hallo Moya, We hope that you can make it for at least part of the time as we are looking forward to meeting you & Roger - better half a weekend than none if possible.

What about the following weekend Moya? Or are there any specific dates you could make it? I don't think the dates are set in stone yet! (Hope I'm not treading on our meet organsers toes in saying that! )

You could always have them deliver direct to you and build it yourself - the first ever custom kit Romahome!

(Hope I'm not treading on our meet organsers toes in saying that! ) Yes we could make the following weekend, which is the Easter weekend as Roger is off work then. Not to worry if it is the one before - we will try to sort something for the summer one if we can. We will catch up with you all eventually!

Sorry that you can't make the weekend, Moya. We wanted to avoid Easter as that is usually busy and is High Season with C&CC. Maybe you could check up when you are free and we could arrange the summer meet to suit.

Pauline, we're not surprised at your confusion with the dates after such a week! Don't worry about it. You're doing a grand job! Just to say that Heather and I have put the Spring dates down (30 March - 1 April) and all being well hope to come to Devizes. By my calculations it might then be a 3-Dimensional meet! ;D We just hope John has booked the weather. Mike and Heather

We don't normally go anywhere on that weekend but we might brave it this year. We will catch up with you all eventually. Keeping the summer one in mind.

Hi Jana
Hope you can make it, we had such a lovely break last time, I have never seen a blue duetto!
Interestingly you call your van 'him' so do we, how do the rest of you think of your vans, male or female or neither??
I know boats are always female but what about campervans?. Viv

He is definitely a boy and goes by the name Freddy, our last van was called Eddy.
We also have a Fiat Panda called Pandacorn as he is the sucessor to an Uno called Unocorn (you cant call a car Unicorn really)
Glad about the pub distance too as Simon wouldn't walk 2 miles willingly although don't tell him we probably walked further at the NEC.

How about a pair of these for Yamaha and Simon or anyone else who doesn't want to walk. Unfortunately I can't find any powered versions! Better ask Santa for a pair.
