Hi there, was just browsing round (as you do) and found this thread about a rally another forum are holding. It sounds a really interesting place and just wondered how anybody else felt about it. Always keen to meet up with people and the ale train sounds good. www.motorhomefacts.com/ftopic-20768.htmlWould we have enough interest to make contacting the railway viable. It's amazing how you find possibilities of venues that you would never normally find.

Hi Jana
I like the sound of that, apart from the fact they haven't got electric hook up :-(, so depending on time of year heating might be a problem for us.
Are you suggesting we arrange a meet as a group or go on the meet on the link you posted?
There is a limit of 15 vans so the meet on the link would probably be full already.
So far we have had meets that people have been able to book individually which is a much simpler option, but this would need someone who is willing to do all the necessary arrangements, take money, book the meet with the railway etc. Are you volunteering? It might mean a lot of hard work.
I doubt if Mike would come it means 100 yard walk to the station for a pint on the train. ;D
Regards Graham

Just gauging reaction really to see if we could summon up enough enthusiasm for a Small Motorhome Forum meet. Like others I would feel late Spring a good time as the nights are lighter and the weather usually a little kinder.
Both Simon and I work full time so being the rally warden/marshall can be a little difficult as we don't always knowing when we can escape and get on the road to welcome and pitch vans. But helping in advance is easier and don't even mind arranging a quiz type competition. If we can get about 10 vans interested I would be happy to contact the railway to see if there are any vacancies etc but however don't want to step on anyones toes if there is already a "meets co-ordinator" or anyone who enjoys arranging things. I also am unsure of how much your rallies/meets are organised. The amount of organisation varies between clubs.

I also am unsure of how much your rallies/meets are organised. The amount of organisation varies between clubs. Hi Jana, Well to date we've only had one meet!! The original intention had been to have informal meets where we agree a meeting site but then each member takes responsibility for booking their own pitch, it seems easier than having one person responsible as 'meet organiser' as that often leads to having to collect money etc. which we didn't want to get into ourselves as, like you, work often gets in the way Having said that, if someone enjoys that sort of thing then they are more than welcome to do it, it certainly wouldn't be treading on any toes. I like to think that there are no hard and fast rules here, it's a do as you like site, in fact it's so laid back we often fall over (or is that the wine) ;D The same applies when on site, we don't have any organised activities, preferring to decide what to do on the day, and that seemed to work fine at Chipping. We did a few things together but were free to do our own thing too. Again, if anyone would like to organise an activity that would be great. I'm sure your quiz would go down well with a pint or two!

I think that it is really good that someone else ( apart from Yamaha , and me) is suggesting rally possibilities. I don't feel at all put out. I'm sure that we need plenty of suggestions to consider, so that we end up with a range of meets that appeal to our membership .
