Great to meet faces old and new at Devizes last weekend. The weather was very blowy, but mainly fine, and we all had a good time. The evening meal at the Pub was a highlight - good food, and good company - what more could one ask for. Thanks John for organising us. Saturday morning I was talked into this 2-day walk to the Caen? Locks, being assured it was ONLY about 1.5miles - it felt more like 15miles - I don't know who was most tired, me, or Martin's dog, Nick! Sue had a bit of a funny turn, and my legs were shouting "Enough", so we elected to get a taxi back - best £3 we ever spent!! This was the purpose of the agony:- Here are Mike and Graham deep in conversation:- Here is Lunnie, talking to the ducks, with Viv and Mike looking on - Heather and the rest disappearing into the distance:- Mike

Hi everyone, Thank you all, I had a really good weekend!. Brilliant company, good meal etc, Thank you.
I went on to Brean Sands after leaving you all, boy was it cold and windy!!!!!!, I was very disappointed that the folk attending the UKCS meet were not in the least friendly, couldnt even be bothered to say good morning, I was really disappointed, but since I had my family with me, I was ok, and it was a real treat that for the very first time I was not the chuck wagon, my son and wife fed and watered me very well, AND I didnt have to do the washing up either. We did do a 3hrs walk including my 2yr grandson, up and along Bread Down, that was most enjoyable and so was the cup of tea at the end! my son and I enjoyed it so much we had two.
Today it was beautiful, hot and sunny, no wind and guess what, you have it, we packed up and came home.
Thank you again, for such an enjoyable weekend.
Joan

Hello all, Thanks to you all for great weekend, Niqk has recovered, as good as hes going to get anyway, so I hope Mike and Sue have too. I like all the pics, aren't they good, shows just as it was, will post some of mine when I get chance, (found a water leak on the main pipe that feed the house when I got home, dug down to the pipe yesterday and found it, its only small but needs to be fixed, when I can get the parts, all shops closed today) I left Tim and Chris in glorious sunshine with their shorts on, and wished I could stay longer, but had to come home. Must go now and make a list af the parts I want to fix that b***dy pipe. Isn't it nice to be able to put a face to a post now that we have met. See and speek to you all later Martin P.S. I must make an apology to Jack and Pat for not saying goodbye to them on the day they left, I went out early, well quite early, and they were, I think, still in bed. Also I hope there were no wine stains!!!! ( me and liquids dont mix!!!!)

Hi Everyone,
Well we finally had to call it a day and come home to go to work!!
We had a great time there and was really good to put faces to names from the forum.
Thanks for the delicious cake Wendy, it has made us think about what can be done in a small galley. Thanks also for sorting the meal on the first night, shame we couldn't make it there for Friday and joined you all for the walk too.
As for the looong walk, well we did that 4 more times before I finally demanded that we stay on the site for the last day with ice-creams in hand.
We also walked to Melksham, the other way on the canal path, missed the turning off (navigators fault of course - not mine!) and then ended up walking a total of 7.5 miles by the time we had come to the next village and walked back into Melksham by road. Lovely little coffee shop/cafe we found there for lunch though, run by the Baptist Church.
We spent Tuesday in Bath, was the last really bad day of weather we had, was very cold and we museum hopped all day.
After that it was sun all the way and the awning came into its own in the evenings when the temperature started to drop off, so at least we return to work tanned!!
Good to see that you made it home safely Martin, and that Niqk is recovered after all that walking.
Hope we can sort out a summer meet, will post our dates and locations on the thread and see if anyone can match them.
Best Wishes
Tim

Hi Martin Great pics (but then again you are an expert), it was great to meet you and everybody else, looking forward to the next one. Regards Graham Hi Graham, Expert, far from it, but I do enjoy messing about with cameras and all things related, especially now that they are computer related. We will see you all on the next meet, going to book tomorrow, sorry, today. By the way does your web clock correct itself, or is Pauline slacking. Martin

By the way does your web clock correct itself, or is Pauline slacking. Martin Ah! Now that depends on whether you are seeing the wrong time when logged in or not If it was wrong when logged out, then yes I'm slacking, forgot to change to BST for guests - but then again if guests want the correct time they should become members and join us! ;D If the time is wrong when you are logged in then you have your preferences set wrong - you would need to go into your profile then 'modify profile' and change the clock settings.
