If anyone will be in N. Ireland between the 21st & 26th August they would be more than welcome to visit our annual community festival.
The Washingbay is situated on the South-West shore of Lough Neagh in Co. Tyrone about 8 mile (20 minutes) from the town of Dungannon, which has a caravan park. I have a field adjacent to the Lough which you would be welcome to use for wild camping/parking.
You could get together a debating team of 4 to take part in our fun debating competition on the Wednesday night, attend our conference on local dialect on Thursday, contribute to our storytelling & poetry session that night (or just listen), take part in the table quiz followed by an Irish Traditional Seisiun on Friday night. On Saturday, join our 10 mile ramble along the Coalisland Canal & through peatlands and riverbank, visit our vintage rally, local crafts & produce market and on Saturday night come to the barbecue and dance (& help choose our Belle of the Bay) or attend our family day on Sunday finishing with a local talent concert on Sunday night.
Other attractions include canoeing, currach racing, cycling, pleasant easy walking country, good pubs and if a group of 5 or 6 would like to try their hand at clay pigeon shooting I could organise this with our local skeet club.
I tried to attach our provisional programme to this but it was too large (28KB). If anyone would like further information they could e-mail the community group at info@washingbay.net
Outside my Romahoming I'm also chairman of the community group and festival organising committee. (And I also feel like a one man tourist board!!)
