You may well have worked this out already but it is something I didn't know until today!! 
If you click the blue 'new' tag to the left of a thread with new posts (rather than just the thread titile), it will take you to the first post that has yet to be read by you. i.e. it starts at the new posts since you were last in that thread.
If you click the far right cell (where it tells you who posted), it will take you to the very last post of the thread.
Learn something new everyday as they say!
