Fitting 12V Socket in Hylo Luton Area

Hi Moya, the cable is in and connected but I still have to sort out a box for the socket. I think your Zig switches may be in a different place to ours so the job will be different. Our switch unit is behind the drivers seat. I have managed to fiddle the cable thru without making holes. Poke some thiner scrap cable in one end and fish with some bent coathanger wire, luck is required

Cable used is standard auto red and black twin with a black sheath. It is 28/0.3 which is 2mm csa. This should carry at least 15amps. I have used blue idc (insulation displacement) tee connectors, these are OK for 2mm csa cable. The socket will need female spade connectors, these are crimped on.

Thanks for the info and the pictures Derek. I have printed it off and given it to Roger. I think he might have a look at it tomorrow. One problem will be running the wire from the Zig unit to the luton as ours is next to the cooker. I have threatened him that he is not allowed to pull anything apart to do it!

The socket has been mounted in an ordinary surface mounting electrical box with a blanking plate as a lid
