Just taken delivery of a brand new Duo Outlook Exclusive and I seem to be having problems with the heater. t5he operating instructions are not very clear. Can someone please explain in idiot speak for a simpleton like me how to work it. What colour should the lights be on the control when it is on for example?
Thanks

Hi Peter,
I have the Eberspacher heater on my outlook exclusive so will try and shed some light on it for you.
The control unit I have has two led lights a two way switch and a round thermostat control.
Push the two way switch to the left and the red led next to the tap symbol comes on. The heater revs up and heats just the hot water.
Push the two way switch to the right and the green led comes on next to the wavey/tap symbol. The heater and the air fan both rev up but the air blown in is cold for a few minutes.
I have come to the conclusion, after looking at the pipework and the diagrams I have found that the air is cold because all the heat is routed through the hot water tank and then to the air heating. This means that the air heater doesn't get any heat until the hot water tank gets hot.
Give the system a few minutes and the hot air flows freely, assuming that the thermostat is set high enough.
Once the thermostat for the air heater cuts out you will find that the whole system runs on for some time, also when you turn the heater off there is a run on period, to make sure that everything is at a safe temperature before shutdown and isn't going to catch fire.
Hope that helps and that your heater does not prove to be faulty.
Tim

Hi Peter. Tims just about got the measure opf the heater, I'll just add that you should always start the heater with the thermostat turned up fully, once the thing has fired up you can turn it down. I also sugest when handing over a new vehicle that you run the hot water only function for about ten mins before trying to run the blown air heating, that way you don't suffer a cold draught while the heater gets warmed up. Lastly and very importantly, the heater is very voltage sensitive, if the battery voltage is below 11.5 volts the eberspacher may not begin the firing cycle, here's the spooky bit, if you try to work it more than three times with low battery voltage the unit will lock out and may not recover without changing the control unit ( about £280 !), so keep you eye on the battery voltage and if you think its a bit low start the engine before trying the heater.
