Hi, I've seen a Romahome (1992) and they want £5000 for it. It has quite a few extras, just a bit of rust but have disconnected a few bits. It appears to have been maintained - does anyone have any views as to if this is a reasonable price or is over priced? If it is overpriced - how much would be reasonable for this year? Thanks.Ps. also any problems, niggles I should look at?

Hi happycamper Welcome to the forum, hope you enjoy your stay and find it interesting and informative. There is an interesting thread (click here) about the pitfalls of buying second hand romahomes. Hope that helps. Regards Graham

I paid £4,000 for Elvis last April and have been very happy with him. He is my only means of transport, runs well, is comfortable and, once I got used to no power-steering find him ok to park in ordinary car parks. Only inconvenience is height restrictions in SOME car parks. A full service history would be very useful. I wonder what "bits" have been disconnected, and why.

Elvis is a very smart D reg Citroen Hitop which has alloy wheeels and has been upholstered in red draylon. I got him off an enthusiast who had lavished loads of TLC on him and who had kept a full service history that dated back to when he was first registered. I have been really pleased with him and he is in everyday use, and runs well. Obviously the price you pay for a Romahome depends very much on condition. I had a Honda Acty flatbed Romahome conversion a while back so I knew what I was looking for when I got Elvis. In particular, having a Citroen diesel van base means that the engine is powerful enough for the weight. The Honda was pretty useless as it only had a 500cc engine and it was sooo slow. Elvis spins along like an ordinary car would so I can definitely recommend a Citroen Romahome especially if it comes complete with the awning.
