Phil n Carol's 'Max n Paddy'

Our Roma-home was always going to have a name, the question was which one to choose and which one would stick! We originally went for cute old fashioned names such as Doris or Albert. But each time our van came into sight after returning from a days walking or a trip to the pub Phil would affectionately say 'Look there's our little Max n Paddy' This name stuck! We live up to it's reputation when we are driving along listening to the CD player. Chris Rea's 'Work' has a slow build up and as the beat kicks in we do a Max n Paddy! It's Rock n Roll as were rolling along. Had a real laugh reading about other peoples names for there vans. Do you think its a small van thing or do the giants have names too?

This thread has made me chuckle! We don't usually name our vehicles, but when we picked up our first C15 HiLo (Reg R111FUS) it became Rufus! When we collected our spanking new HiLo we had intended it to be Rufus2 but it didn't really suit her! After much deliberation and several changes of mind, it suddenly came to us, Elsie! (Reg ends LSE) so once again she named herself! Rufus took us for miles, and we are hoping Elsie is as obliging!

::)Hi again - when I first bought my Romahome I called 'him' Rodney then after lots of use I realised he was a 'she' (used to name cars and caravans with girly names so should have realised!) She is now called 'Harriet' which was the name of my first car way back in the dark ages when they had chrome on the bumpers!!! Seemed appropriate somehow as she is the first motor home I have owned!

Hi , we took delivery of our Duo Outlook on 13th March this year, our first motorhome. I was suprised that it was some kind of tradition to give motorhomes personal names, however with my husband we came up with the name of Lola " Live Our Lifes Adventure ".

Mine is called Buzz,
It was named this by the previous owners grandkids, due to the Yellow, black and white, they thought it loked like a bumble-bee!!
The name stuck with us..

Hello. I have owned my current van for a week and 2 days and the only suitable name for him/her/it is Rusty. My first van, a Fiat Caravelle was called Zebedee as it bounced all over the road, so I put a Zebedee bubble bath container on the grille. Not sure what to put on the front of this one, probably a tow hitch. ;D Great site, hope to meet you all soon. Martin (Haggis)

Cor that's two Daisies then! ;D Mine is called Daisy too - the first time I went up a very very steep hill, I started chanting, come on Daisy, come on Daisy, for heaven's sake, YOU CAN DO IT! not sure if I was talking to the van or myself, but have called her Daisy ever since! Haggis - I could call mine Zebede or Rusty as well - both are appropriate! Made me laugh, that did! ;D

Hi all, All our vans have been considered female, as in"have you packed her". One was called eel, last letters of numberplate, oddly a previous owner had stuck a cutout of a trout to her bonnet, strange! The VW van was known by me as the panzer!, boys dreams.

Hi, My sister and I own Freda - Free da roam.
We've only had it a few weeks, and are hoping to roam if we can get away from our respective Caring obligations next Spring.
At least with Freda we can chuck her old codger in the back and spend the day in the New Forest with all facilities on board!
I've read through the names and think they are great and very inventive. I always named my cars and motorcycles in the past - my brother's old ex WD Enfield was called Betsy and had to be encouraged up the hills.

Lunnie is in Turkey again!
By the way, my van is called Frisky - 'cos that's what the wise guys at Autosleeper called the model when they built them, and it's written on his side, so I couldn't really call him anything else.
