I have a tow bar and bike carrier for a Duo Outlook which I would like someone to have. If you want it please email me at jmconnachan@tiscali.co.uk. The tow bar and carrier are free. All you have to do is to collect it or arrange for it to be uplifted. Jim Connachan P.S. I live in Kinross

Could you, or someone else, please clarify this for me. We are considering changing our 7 year old Autosleeper Trooper for either a Romahome Hylo or Outlook. We asked the company who should sell Romahome in Scotland about a tow bar when asking for a price and also a trade in price for our vehicle. We were told you could not have a tow bar fitted. We thought this was because of the GRP structure? Thanks

Hi Baldybantam - and welcome to our friendly Forum.
As for towbars - we had a Duo Hylo, and investigated having a towbar fitted - but it was deemed not suitable because a) the only chassis was so far forward under the van, and b) it would make the rear ground clearance even less than normal.
Maybe someone with an Outlook could comment?
I see jimconnachan in Scotland was offering one free for a Duo Outlook - maybe worth emailing him for a chat about it.

Hi and welcome! There does seem to be conflicting advice about towbars - perhaps Ant will be by soon and able to shed some light on it.

Hello Pauline,
I did as you suggested and contacted Mr Connachan regarding the tow bar. This is the reply I received directly. I am sure Mr Connachan will not mind me sharing this information. He has been extremely helpful and has even offered to meet with my husband and self to show us the van in the future. I have cut out some bits.
Mr Connachan wrote:-
The tow bar I got was from PWS Engineering and they advertise in the MMM magazine. The bar is a very solid construction and is bolted to the chassis close to the rear wheels. There is a small snag in that there is a plate to be bolted the floor at the back door and this requires three holes to be drilled in the floor. We used the tow bar mount to carry bikes and it was successful but when the bikes were on it we could not enter the rear door. If you want it to carry bikes there are bike carriers which allow you to lower the the bikes and gain entry to the rear door and I did this.
