Hi ant,i've ran my fridge on mains for 24 hrs and although i am getting warm air from the top vent, the fridge is not getting cold.Shall i give it another 24hrs or try taking it out and turn it upside-down as you suggested on previous posts?Or could it be another fault.PS the gas flame lights ok.Thanks.Brian.

Hi Brian. If you've not turned it upside down recently its well worth doing it now. Listen out for some gurgling thats a good sign, no gurgle no coolant, no cold fridge. Sometimes just a few mins will do in the upended position but if you can leave it over night you'll be sure to have moved even the thickest bits in the pipes. Ant

Hi again Ant.I have appeared to have ran into a slight problem.I have removed the cooker, the two vents and the fridge gas pipe.there doesn't appear to be any retaining brackets, and the fridge is encapsulated in a fibre jacket which is part of the cooker/ fridge housing.Have i missed something,or have i just to yank it out,it feels quite secure in its jacket,i don't want to damage anything.I hope you can help.Brian.

Brian. I'm slightly confused, If you've removed the cooker you should be looking at the top of the fridge through a hole in the GRP. There should be some "L" shaped brackets holding the fridge in screwed into the top of the fridge. failing that they sometimes had a aluminium frame around the front of the fridge screwed into the GRP. The bottom legs of the fridge may also be screwed down in the centre of the leg ( sometimes you need to lift the fridge slightly to clear the step along the bottom edge of the fridge slot. Ant

Hi Ant,i managed to get it out with a bit of force. There were no screws or brackets holding it in,it was just tight in its box.You were right about the legs, they were below a lip at the front.I lifted up the bottom and pulled and the bottom came out.I then pulled while rocking the fridge and got it out no problem.I then inverted itand it gurgled for about 5 seconds i hope thats a good sign,i'll leave it for the rest of the day and try it this evening. There was a label stuck on top saying that it had been serviced 5/01 and saying that the lunken has been changed.Have you any idea what that is?Regards,Brian.

Brian. The Lunken hose is the gas pipe to the fridge ( armour plated) If it was replaced in May 01 it should have been replaced again in May 06!
Gurgling is a good sign. Ant

Hi Ant,no luck with the fridge.Iv'e left it upside down for 2 nights now and it still isn't cooling, will a good shaking do the job. There is definately gas in it as it gurgles.I am running it on 240v and it is getting hot on the top section of pipe. Can it still be blocked?Do i need the power on when it's upside down?Would it make any difference if i tried it on gas.I just don't know why it's not working. Thanks for your help,Brian.

Brian. It may be that you just don't have enough fluid in your fridge to circulate properly. If it was me I'd tip it up briefly when its hot and see if you can detect any movement of the fluid by hot pipes. It's unusual for them to be this difficult. You can buy the cooling pipes unit as a spare part but its almost as much as a new fridge. If it hasn't started working after a couple of days on its head I'd let it settle for a day try once more on the mains then admit defeat and change the fridge. Ant

Yes Ant,it looks like i need a new one.I've been lookin around, but all the ones that i've seen ,has the flue pipe on the left and they are different sizes.Mine is an e'lux RM 123e.I have found that model(or equivilent)but like i said the flue is on the other side.Is there one you know of that will fit?Anyway the fidge is powered up at the moment so i'll go out and give it a shake rattle and roll.Brian.

Brian. The123E fridge is still available but as you have already noticed the flue is on the other side to yours, other than that its the same size and will go into the slot you've got ( slight trim of the feet might make it easier!). The RM 212F that Playallday has found on Ebay is a bigger fridge , same size as a Berlingos fridge but the previous generation ( Mid 80s). There are many C15s out there with two fridge flue vents, one blocked off, I know 'cause I put them there! Ant

Would it be possible to extend the flue over to the right,or will it impede the flow of fumes.I'm a bit reluctant to cut a hole for another outlet. However having said that i'm thinking of fitting a carver 2 water heater under the seat and that will be a much bigger job.I've got one in the shed that came off a caravan gathering dust. There is plenty of e'lux 120 fridges around but they're only gas/12v.Ohwell i'll keep searching ebay etc and see what turns up.

Hi Ant,i've just bought a 2 way fridge from ebay for £50 and it works perfectly.I note with interest your post to smudger about 240v conversion.I have all the bits to convert mine from my old one.The only problem that i can see,is the hole i have to drill in the back of the fridge. My old one has a recess that the knob fits in,this one is flat. Will the shaft of the thermostat be long enough to go through to the inside,or will i have to drill a large hole for the knob to go in.Would it be easier to set the thermostat on max and leave it on the outside. Also there is a sensor coming out of the thermostat where should that go.Thanks for your help,Brian.

Hi Brian. It sounds as if your Ebay fridge is older than the one you're taking out. The later thermostat and knob are very different shapes and to try and recess the knob from the newer fridge into the old one would not be easy to do neatly. The sensor needs to be pushed through the back next to the pipe that feeds the ice comparmentand clipped onto one of the cooling fins of the cooling plate. You could set the thermostat to three quarters and not bother with the knob. I don't think I'd set it flat out as you may find the milk freezes in the fridge. Ant

Thanks for that ant,i'll set it at 3/4.I don't mind the milk freezing, but the beer would be a disaster. There isn't an ice box as such,it's just a plate so i'll clip the sensor on to there. It has also a push button spark generarator so i'll also fit my electronc one.I hope that is not too complicated,it looks straight forward enough.Anyway thanks for your help and i'll let you know how i got on.Brian.

Hi Ant,well i've got the fridge back i was in the van working on all 3 modes.I was lucky there was an extra tube next to the 12v heater that the 240v heater just slotted in.i left the thermostat on 3/4 as you suggested and it still made ice cubes.I also managed to fit the electronic spark module so that was a bonus. Thanks for your help Ant and now i'll make a few measurements to see if my carver cascade water heater will fit in anywhere. That will be a challenge!Brian
