We were going to go away in the van over the weekend but we chickened out after seeing the weather forecast, so we spent the weekend decorating instead.
Did anyone else brave the elements, if so how was it, where did you go and did you get much snow?

Well, I DID go camping at Easter, but not in this country! Last week on Tuesday I found a cheap ferry for Dover-Dunkerque and sailed at 0200hrs Wednesday, very short notice. My trip was to Weggis in Switzerland again, where I have family, I arrived in the evening and let me tell you it was very cold indeed with snow during the night. What i do to make life bearable at bedtime is to make a hot choc drink which warms the van up whilst the gas is on, then dive into my sleeping bag with a light duvet cover over me, the air is cold to breathe of course and it's a bit cold on the face but overall not too bad. One wish is to have auxiliary heating, my old C15 doesn't boast that luxury. Just arrived back today (Thursday 27th) but I did have a couple of nights in an apartment during my stay, nobody believed that I didn't mind sleeping in the Roma, but I really do like it, perhaps I'm nuts as Yamaha describes himself!! Will put some photos up if I can find out how, by way of confirmation of my story! Best wishes to all, Steve (chowzamma)

Not only did we not go camping, I did not go on my weekly ramble, first I have missed due to weather!! Heather and I went on a 10 mile ramble in the Forest of Dean. It was jolly draughty but we were all equipped with warm headwear! No snow in our neck of the woods. See southcotswoldramblers.decenturl.com/easter-ramble for the evidence. Mike

"Heather and I went on a 10 mile ramble in the Forest of Dean." OMG - 10 miles? Reminds me of a 15 mile hike I was talked into to the Caen Locks!! Mike

Wow. Mike and Heather that was some walk! Loved the photo's - really interesting to see all those old workings. Broom or Gorse - Gorse of course! Broom hasn't the prickles and gorse smells like coconut oil, but don't sniff too closely, you'll get a nose full of midges!
Steve, wow, what a journey! I don't think I could bear cold that cold, except if I had an elec hook up for my oil filled radiator - failing that, several hot water bottles - oh and a wooly hat on my head!

We packed everything into Charlie and off we went - for a weekend on our narrow boat. Charlie does more miles to the gallon than the car so it makes sense to take him.
There was a boat gathering booked in, but when we tried to move the boat I found there was a problem with the gear change. So charlie took us to the gathering for the hog roast. Is that your van? Can we have a look? It's brilliant! Where can we get one? etc etc.
Guess what? We are taking Charlie to the next boat gathering as well.
We had wind, rain, hailstones and enough snow to say" that was snow just now wasn't it?" Was it cold? No, with a multifuel stove that burns solid fuel and logs it was lovely, and banked up it keeps going all night.
An 8 mile walk along the towpath was exhilerating. I repaired the gear change ( a link had worked loose) and we went for a short cruise.
A good weekend for all
Malcolm, Hilary and of course Charlie. ;D

We braved three days on Dartmoor over Easter. There was no snow but some cold winds in the high spots. Down in the valleys however there were some nice moments of sunshine.
We had no hook up but we found the nights to be quite warm in the natural insulation of the Romahome. Our site (which we have been using for 25 years) is about a mile from Buckfastleigh on the river Dart.
Seems like the West Country had the best of the weather for a change. Roads were nice and quiet so the journey back to East London was done in record time.

Went to Ferry Meadows at Peterborough for Easter. We had to camp on the grass pitches and most people had to be towed off after the snow. The Park was crowded with kids, sledges and snowmen as it was about 2 inches deep before melting to mud. The dog loved it as you can see.

I am still catching up with all the posts hence such a late reply. We went to Devizes C & CC site for Easter. It certainly was cold but had a lovely time. When we woke up on the Saturday morning it was snowing, then rain then hailstones. Not inspiring for our walk into Devizes that we had planned. About an hour later the sun shone so we decided to wrap up and go for it. I think we walked about eight or nine miles in total but it was lovely. I know this is the walk that Mike (Yamaha) loves isn't it. When we got back to the van we had a nice warming alcoholic drink and then fell asleep. Walked the other part of the canal on Sunday but that was really short as came across the pub there so had to go in for a drink. In all despite the wintry showers we had a lovely chilled out weekend.

That's sounds lovely Moya, we like Devizes the walk up the locks is great, but as you say not everybody's cup of tea (eh Mike?). Also some nice pubs in Devizes, I'm a bit of a real ale fan and I wasn't disappointed with the selection to be sampled. Graham
