hi all, shortly due to pick up my first campervan.Having only camped in a tent before I am wondering if I will need chocks for sloping sites. If it is a good idea how easy are they to position? Pat

Hello Pat Yes, levelling chocks are a good idea with a van. Front or back wheels saves you waking up a headache one way or in a heap with corrugated knees the other. You can also use them on one side to stop any accusations of being too friendly from side to side! Although you can put them just in front of the wheels and drive up by yourself it is a lot easier if someone can be ready to indicate before you drive over the top. Don't forget to take a little spirit level to get it just right. And don't be put off by the fact that many of us regard this as a little afternoon entertainment and another cup of tea - only kidding. Good luck with your first camp.

Hi Pat
Yes we've got levelling chocks but as Niloc says they can be a bit tricky unless you have someone to stop you going too far. We try to find a level pitch wherever possible, if the site is too sloping you won't be able to get level as the chocks will only help so much.
Happy camping Graham

Hi again Pat
We have actually never had to use chocks but we do carry them. We have slept on slight slopes without any problem, but only VERY slight because the main problem is with the kettle and cooking; could be dangerous if things slide around. (We do keep loads of little patches of non slip matting around but not big enough to keep us in the beds!!!!!!!! )

Hi Pat Welcome to the site, one of these can be handy as Niloc says. This is a B+Q one If your base vehicle is the Berlingo you can put it in the tray under the handbrake. Derek
