I am exploring my new Romahome and have a mystery with the water cap. It was missing due to vandalism a few months ago. The previous owner had ordered a replacement cap and it has arrived. But I can't seem to figure out how to fit it. Perhaps the cap changed from year to year and this is not the correct model. Perhaps there is a bit missing somewhere. Or perhaps I am a bit slow. I will admit to the latter regardless. Attached are 3 pics of the cap and the place it is supposed to go. I can't make anything latch no matter what I try. It just fits loosely in place. Can anyone help me resolve this? In the meantime I am looking for a big cork... Thanks, Peter

Hi Peter My memory fails me on what the C15 water cap looked like, however the cap you have in the photo is definitely the same as a later model i.e. Duo and the same as our Dimension so I wonder if you are right and it is the wrong one. What we need is a C15 owner to pop by or Ant, but I imagine Ant is enjoying a welcome Easter break If is does happen to be the correct cap then it should fit by pushing down hard into the filler hole while turning clockwise using the finger grips (the three recesses) this should then hold it in place (it grips under something ) , you then turn the key to lock into place. Hope that makes sense, sorry I'm not the best of describers (as you probably noticed ). Good luck

Hello Peter
I am pretty sure that the filler cap you have is of a later model, i.e. the Duo or Outlook, we have several people who come on here and have a C15, they will be able to help you better.
Over to you Lunnie, Martin W, Jack and Pat, etc. I am sure one of you can help Peter.
Regards
Graham

I will go and look instantly (later) Here we go,3 quick pics Testing the cap off the van, if you lock it and you try to put it back on the van it will not clip into place, so if it is the correct one, and to me it does look slightly different, may be the one Peter has, has been locked, so unlock it and try again. On my cap in the unlocked position, off the van, the center and the outside grip are locked as one, but if you lock it, off the van then the outside grip will rotate around the center part and not let you clip it into position on the van. Hope I have made sense of this and you can understand it, if you cant let me know. (I have all day now that I have made my water parts list) Martin

You have 3 little notches on the female bit. I don't. Notches would make sense for the cap I have. Ant, where are you? We need a definitive answer. The sellers paid 45 pounds for the replacement cap (including shipping), which took several months to arrive here, and it looks like Romahome sent the wrong one. I have the 1991 model, BTW. So far, the cork I found fits... Thanks for the attention. Unfortunately, this will probably not be my last question ;D The good news is that the fridge works, the hob works, the heater works (although the seller thought it would run on 240 as well as gas, which, unless I am missing something, seems to be wrong), and all the electrics are in good shape. Day 2 as a Romahome owner, and I am figuring things out one by one. Fortunately, I have all the original manuals. Cheers, Peter

Yes, Peter, I see what you mean. I have a 1992 model and my "female" part is different to yours!!! It looks as though your cap could fit on to mine, and I don't know what was fitted as standard. So, has someone changed your filler at some time or has someone changed mine, I don't know. Sorry I cant help any farther, we need someone else, who has the same model as us to help ---JACK can you help? Martin Just noticed £45, is it silver plated, alarmed, and shows freeview???

Sorry I was otherwise occupied , you've nearly solved the problem without me! Saddly the centre of your filler neck is missing, this often happens when someone has lost the filler keys and the cap has to be forced. The centre is not available as a seperate part and you need to change the whole filler neck bit. Romahome stores will be able to send you the whole thing, no engineering degrees needed to fit it. Ant

Thanks ant. In this case the keys weren't lost, it was vandals who forced both the diesel and water caps. The diesel one was replaced locally. Apparently they were also dancing on the roof. Good to know that it can take it.
I will be on the road for the next 6 weeks or so, so difficult to send anything to me. Will look for an alternate replacement or wait until I am in the UK in May. Perhaps I should stop by the factory as I will be driving along the south coast.
Cheers, Peter

Hi Geonomad, sory to hear of the mishap with the water filler cap, but glad to know Ant has helped with the answer, it certainly wasnt the same filler cap that I have so if you could get to Avon Motor Caravans on your return journy you'll be pointed in the right direction. Also cheers Martin,,,

Just to complete the thread I started, I finally found the needed water filler receptacle that fits the cap. Narbonne Accessories (http://www.narbonneaccessoires.fr) had the "coupelle" at only EU 9.90. The locking filler cap would have been EU 11.90, if I had needed one. That is 6.75 and 8.10 sterling. VAT included. About half the UK price before shipping.
They have super catalogue they will send for free if you can read la belle langue. If not, you can always look at the pictures and lust after new accessories for your Romahome. You can order it on the web. There are outlets all over France if you happen to be touring over here.
Fitting the coupelle was pretty straighforward. I used enough silicone to seal a roof around the fitting to make sure it wouldn't leak. As it is now bucketing down, it is being well tested.
I am parked in a field in Provence, surrounded by a few hundred sheep. With a free high speed WiFi connection. courtesy of the paragliding shop nearby. Wild camping at its finest.
