My dog has the stitches out and that bl :ody lampshade off her head. It's been driving us both to distraction for nearly a fortnight!
No idea how they will take the stitches out, I have visions of the vet crawling underneath her belly...
Wish the insurance would hurry up. That's my spending money for the Scotland trip!

Hi JayJay
Glad the dogs on the mend, they look really funny with those lampshades on their heads.
I hope you will be able to find some petrol when you go up to Scotland, are you worried about the petrol strike?

Hi - You have no idea how awful it's been! The last week or so have seemed endless! I am worried, Graham. I'm not setting off until the 17th May, so I'm hoping all the fuss will be over by then. If not, I don't know what I shall do. Apparantly ppl are queueing up at the pumps all over the place and panic buying, which is making the whole situation worse, as usual. I'm going to need some petrol in the car before long, never mind filling up the van to go to Scotland

jayjay So glad your little Merlyn has got rid of the lamp shade. I am wondering what you can re-use it for!!
HOpe you have a lovely holiday and hopefully the petrol thing will be resolved by the time you go away.

Hi Jayjay,
Glad your dog is ok and I hope the insurance company stump up soon. Petrol and diesel here in Scotland hasn't run out yet. Went to get diesel for Rhonda yesterday - no queues and no restriction on the amount I was allowed to buy. Heard a couple of small towns ran out at the weekend temporarily but oil tankers are arriving every day. I think you should be ok. With a bit of luck it will all be over by the time you arrive.
Good luck and have a great trip to the islands,
DJ Sooz.

Thanks for all the good wishes! THe vision was correct - the vet did indeedy have to crawl underneath her to get the stitches out! she was really good though, it must have been a relief! She was bounding about like a puppy when we got home! Viv - no idea what I can use the lampshade for! I think I'll just dismantle it and keep it somewhere safe as you never know when you might need it again - perish the thought! It was over a fiver on the bill - for a piece of plastic! Thanks Djsooz - good to hear news north of the border that petrol is still for sale. The way ppl are panicking you'd think all the oil refineries had stopped production, not just one! Keep me informed if you can, I'm on my way up on the 17th May all being well. Still not had a cheque for the insurance. .. I will be busking in Inverness for petrol money at this rate! LOL! ;D

Here's a quick update on that insurance payout... Very quick to take the money, not so quick on the payout. The cheque(s) were waiting for me when I returned from a short trip to Scotland on Monday 23rd JUNE!! I phoned before I went away on the 18th June and was told that the claim had been dealt with but needed approving ( ) before the cheques were sent. Also said there had been a high volume of claims so it was taking a month or more to sort out. They received the claim from the vets on the 5th May, so the vets had dragged their feet a bit as well. The one operation had been split into two claims, each with its own £60 excess, so £120 excess, not £60. I'm not going to complain as one of the ops was to remove a cyst on Merlyn's knee, not harmful, just unsightly, so that was a bit of plastic surgery if you like and I wasn't sure if they'd pay out for that anyway as I had requested it be done at the same time! Just mighty glad to get some of it back as the MOT on my 'van is due July 9th and the mot on the car and insurance on the 'van both due in August!
