This was in the latest leaflet from Riversway Leisure (with the CC magazine). An electric cooking plate - 750w and costs £15.95. It might be slow, but you are on holiday and it won't blow the fuse on the low amp hook ups in Europe. I have a similar one (1kw) that I bought in France and it is really good used with the double skillet. I don't use gas at all when on EHU. Mine is about 30cm square, so doesn't take up too much space and the Riversway one looks to be a similar size.

Hi Wendy
I too have a single ring electric hob. Not sure if this is what you mean. I find it really useful as it fits snugly and securely over the gas hob. It slides back in its box for storage and is very effective and heats up quickly and cools quite fast as well. It means we have an alternative cooker in case we ever run out of gas (provided we have hook up!!!)
As you so rightly say, this along with the double skillet is that is needed to cook a really good meal.
