With the may bank holiday approaching this weekend, i tend not to go anywhere what with everybody having the same idea, and traffic jams bad weather and all the rest that goes with the traditional British bank holiday.
This weekend i have decided to venture out, just cant make my mind up where, thinking of Shrewsbury not been for a while a very nice part of the country.
Anybody else venturing out this weekend ? Anywhere interesting? Are there any good shows/camping events on anywhere this weekend? I would be interested to know.

Hi there
We never go away at Bank holidays and son is travelling up from Bognor and daughter down from Worcester to stay with us so saves us driving up or down on the dreaded M25 on a BH weekend!!!
Mind you with the weather as it is I don't think there will be too many people off to the coast/countryside.
If you do go have a lovely time and hope this rain ends soon.

We aren't going anywhere Bank holiday but off the next weekend. We are going to the CC site at Henley on Thames. Looking forward to it as we haven't been to that site before. It sounds good and is only a 20 minute walk into Henley. Might go on a boat on the river you never know. I am sure the sun will be shining. Got to be optimistic!

Anybody else venturing out this weekend ? We are off to North Norfolk tomorrow for a bit of birdwatching and a spot of relaxing in the sun (fingers crossed). I envy you folk who say you don't go anywhere on bank holidays because its too busy, yes it is busy but us working folk have to take our holidays when we can. Normally bank holidays are a washout, lets hope this one we get a bit of Graham (ever the optimist)

Graham,
We always said we wouldn't go away at Bank Holidays because the sites are too busy. We went away for Easter and got snowed on so one more reason no to go!!
Not going anywhere this weekend as working in the garden. Building an enclosure for the tortoises, you never know the rain may be an advantage to the 'one' of us who will be doing the hard labour....especially if it is so hard I have to stop!!
Hope you get some sun up in North Norfolk though, it is normally totally different weather between Norwich and Sandringham anyway.

We are off to North Norfolk tomorrow for a bit of birdwatching and a spot of relaxing in the sun (fingers crossed). lucky you, where you going for the birding? Its a while since i've been to Hunstanton and Cley but I did get a week down on the Broads a couple of years ago. There should be plenty to see, the waders should be well into nesting, marsh harriers hunting and hopefully a bittern or 2 for you as well. I'm jealous now!! have a great time and keep us posted on what you see.

It's pouring down here this morning! I had made plans (sort of) to take Daisy out for a run, just somewhere local and walk the dog, etc. Perhaps not!!

It's pouring down here this morning! Not raining here yet! It will be soon though - Roger is washing the van ready for our trip away next weekend. It sure is looking black out there now.

Well we had a lovely weekend, we stayed on the C&CC site at Sandringham, a lovely site in a park like setting with lots of grass and trees. Saturday was sunny but quite cloudy but warm we had a walk round the Snettisham RSPB reserve, the car park has a height barrier but there is room for a couple or three vans just outside the height barrier. Sunday we went to Hunstanton and I must say it is very motorhome friendly there is a car park as you come into the town near the beach which has a height barrier but a bit further on is a car park for motorhomes and buses. We managed to park for FREE right on the front overlooking the sea, it was a lovely spot and lots of motorhomes there. Its a lovely little seaside town, had fish and chips and a lovely walk round Monday we had a walk from the campsite to Sandringham House, it was a lovely hot day and we had a great walk through the estate. We did notice though that there was plenty of parking for free with no height barriers. Tim hope you managed to get the tortoise shelter done and perhaps got a little help from Kris, maybe? Glen - great bird watching I will post in the birdwatching section what we saw see HERE

Graham, Glad to hear you had a good weekend over here in Norfolk. The weather has been stunning here all weekend with wall to wall sunshine and not a cloud in the sky since very early Saturday morning. We have both been working hard in the garden, the tortoise run is built, the night time shelter just needs its roof so thats my flex day tomorrow sorted then!!! Kris did help but was seen most of the time to be swanning off doing something or other in the rest of the garden He has got a bit sunburnt and now thinks he may have to have tomorrow off too as he thinks he has heat stroke.....I said it was the thought of having to do a days work.....that went down well...lol Mind you I have decided that my old aversion to anything cement based should stay. It's the one thing I have never quite mastered and there was plenty of bad moments when the mix never quite did what it was supposed to do! Tim

Hi Tim
Yes it was really lovely weather we were lucky, mind you we have had plenty of cold, wet bank holidays so by the law of averages........
Glad you got the tortoise housing sorted out and managed to get some help too, I know what Kris means about the sun, I've got a red nose, you'd certainly see me in the dark. Pauline is a bit wiser and knew when she ought to retire into the shade so she hasn't suffered too much.

Back from our weekend we decided to try the new camping and caravan club site at Delamere forest, a small but very modern site only one year old. Arrived on sunday morning not pre booked just thought i would turn up, they were crammed full, but they managed to squeeze me in and i even had ehu, so i have to say a big thankyou for going out of there way to get me a pitch. Weather was ok went to chester on the train, the station was next to the camp site, also near the campsite was a place called go ape a woodland assault course, a very good camp site with plenty of cycling and walking through the forest, i would recomend it.

Sounds like you had a good time, Dancer!
I'll remember that site for future ref, I live not far from there anyway - approx 22 miles away!
Good of them to fit you in - bet they couldn't have done that with a coach built MH or caravan!
